Because Toluca-Morelia and Pumas Monterrey were transmitted by SKY TV, this is the only game I could watch.
Atlas could be a fun team, but I do not think Meza is the adequate coach for them.
Score Atlas 2-Atlante 1
The first half was well fought and both teams had opportunities. The first goal came in a defensive error by Atlante's defense where Calderon was left all alone to head the ball in. The second goal was one of the best goals I've seen in some time in the MFL. A long range first touch bomb (25 mts) by Fabian Estay. I hope he regains the form he had while in Toluca and that he lost on his unfortunate path with America. The third goal was a beauty also, a cross form Valenzuela that was stroked first touch by Osorno (who is coming in as a sub).
The game was pretty even, actually. Atlante was unlucky that they lost the game. If things continue this way, Miguel "piojo" Herrera's days are numbered at the team's helm. Also Chato Rodriguez was injured (ankle sprain) and may lose two weeks or more.

Also may be its the fact that Sergio Bernal sucks. He was at fault for the first 3 goals. I can believe nobody blasted him for the 2nd Valenzuela goal. It was a weak shot, right by him. Bernal can make some good stops but he just makes too many mistakes to be anything more than mediocre.

True. Is Rangel still on the team? After el Brody call up to the national team, Rangel stepped up and played very well.
Apertura 2002
12 Sergio Bernal - 1970
19 Mariano Trujillo - 1977
5 Rodrigo Barragán - 1979
6 Miguel España - 1964
4 Horacio Cervantes - 1981
7 Leandro Augusto - 1977
11 José Luis López - 1979
22 Manuel A. De La Torre - 1980
20 Martín García - 1976
25 Emerson Dos Santos - 1980
18 Rafael Márquez Lugo - 1981
Verano 2002
24 Esdras Rangel - 1977
19 Mariano Trujillo - 1977
2 Christian Ramírez - 1978
15 Rodrigo Barragán - 1979
22 Manuel A. De La Torre - 1980
6 Miguel España - 1964
7 Leandro Augusto - 1977
16 Gerardo Galindo - 1978
11 José Luis López - 1979
25 Emerson Dos Santos - 1980
9 Victor Muller - 1973
With the departure of Christain Ramirez, Victor Muller, Isreal Lopez the last year (Inv 2001 & Ver 2002), Pumas has lost some good veterans.
Beltran is back this season, but I still dont see him 100%, Although he is starting to get it back.
Pumas is forced to use España up front rather than a more defensive player. Espana IMO should not attack.
El Gonzo is still coming off the bench.
This season, Pumas has to depend on Lemus (sp) for the attack, which I think he sucks. Pumas could not afford a better player.
The team is much younger than it was last season also.
The front line is inexpierenced. They are also relying on Toledo (1982). Garcia is not a good forward even though he has more experience thatn Toledo, Marquez and Dos Santos. I would take my chances with the younger ones thatn Garcia. Garcia has not impressed me yet.
The irony of it all.... will be that Hugo develops these players (they wont get the desired results NOW) and some cheese dik will come along and take the credit. Some of these players will be on the national team within the next 1-2 years.
This is what we always preach... get young teams out there... Well... Pumas is doing it and most of thier players are coming from thier own backyard... and yet... they want to criticize them.
I also think that the vets are the ones that suck.. España, Rangel, Garcia....

UNAM won't do anything until they get a better keeper. Bernal just plain sucks and he is a liability. Pumas was playing very well and then Bernal just killed them with those stupid mistakes against Atlas. Also they should get rid of España,who is just too old. He looked awful against Cardoso, and also against Atlas. I think they also need to get their act together in terms of discipline because they are getting to many stupid red cards like last time against Atlas with Pareja Lopez. Beltran is actually doing good but he got a red card against Toluca and couldn't play against Atlas and was missed. See the red card was neccesary because they guy was escaping and was going to scored and he had to take him out as the last man. Of course then came the free kick and Bernal f*ucked up and Toluca virtually endend the game.

Sanchez was infuriated after the game... and what was funny was... he did not show it....
I knew after I saw that... that he was going to drill into his team come monday morning....(kind of reminds of the time when we got our asses handed to us on a saturday day game....coach had a practice right after the game...no parents.. he even told the female trainers not to show up... he called us everything in the book and ran us to death. We also had sunday practice... and just ran us to death......monday...he just ran us to death... we had a game on tuesaday...we won..and we still ran after the game.....it wasnt a question of talent or experience.. it was a question of concentration... he wanted us to stop thinking of that saturdat night beaver and get into the game)
and guess what.....
A puertas cerradas la practica del equipo universitrio...
practice was off limits to everybody except coaches and players.
Its a lack of concentration.... these players are making DUMB mental mistakes.......

He can be a real good coach on the long run, that is why i dont think he belongs in Atlas. The team from Zapopan had grown into a contender and they are now back to midtable mediocracy. I also dont like the fact that Meza has ruined the young player continuation of Atlas (Bielsa/Lavolpe) and brought in many veterans.
If he gets the boot, I hope Atlas gets someone like Ruggeri who knows how to work with the youth players. Atlas in the last years has been very important in player development and i would hate for Meza to ruin that aspect of this Club..
I still think Meza is a good coach but not for a Club like Atlas. Meza is better suited for a Celaya or Puebla type Clubs..
