It's a friendly much for peace..

I didn't understand, what happened to Tony??

He was knocked out (carried off the pitch consciousnessly) and spent the night in a Dortmund hospital. Thank god, he suffered "only" a cranium/brain trauma and not a fracture (how initially suspected).

He, our goalie Heimeroth (who had to be stitched on the pitch after the ugly foul from a Dortmund player) and Matmour (suffered an adductors injury during the last minutes of the match) didn't take yesterday's flight.

I haven't seen the game, but a friend of mine that saw the game told me that the first half was actually quit good, but the second half was terrible...Now we have a long time to rest and get some new players.

We were the better team in the first half, but managed to create only 1 scoring opportunity (Bradley). Unfortunately we got worse in numerical superiority (we had 5 offensive players on the pitch) after the interval ... what's very disappointing. It seems that they totally lost their confidence after the early 0:2 at the beginning of the 2nd half (another defence "blackout").

Here is the players training in Ramat Gan stadium tonight.

Thanx. Shame I don't understand Hebrew...:o

Have a nice day and enjoy the game! Can't await to see your pics and maybe a "youtube" clip.

Ciao.

Unlucky 2-1 defeat in Dortmund

Borussia failed to end the year on a positive note after slipping to a narrow 2-1 defeat in Dortmund on Friday evening.

Meyer wants to sign his former Nuremberg captain Tomas Galasek: http://www.az-web.de/sport/fussball-detail-az/750015?_link=&skip=&_g=Borussia-hat-den-Struktur-Helfer-an-der-Angel.html
I'm not really convinced by this idea. Galasek and Paauwe together would be the oldest and slowest DM-team of all times. Or shall he replace Paauwe? Hmmmm...

Or shall he replace Paauwe? Hmmmm...

Bingo. ;) I don't think they'd play together, to be honest...

If Galasek should really come, it would be only for the rest of this season in my eyes! Hopefully he can be the leader (for the young players) we lack so far...

We'll see.

@ Luckie

Thanks for the info about the rumour concerning our RB position. Of course I won't tell anybody as long as the transfer isn't perfect.

This is nothing new. How many Bayern greats (and not so greats) came to them from Gladbach?? We should have a new motto:

Kicker:
Heimeroth (3,5) - Gohouri (5), Paauwe (4), Brouwers (5) - Levels (4), Dorda (3,5) - Jantschke (3) - Bradley (5) - Matmour (5) - Friend (4), Marin (5)
45. + 5 Colautti (5) für Jantschke
59. Baumjohann (4,5) für Bradley
67. van den Bergh für Dorda
Fascinating, according to the kicker we invented the 3-2-1-1-1-2-system with Marin as second striker.

Unfortunately, it seems that Patrick (who was our "brain" last season) had serious problems to cope with the 1st league style so far (he was terrible in the 2nd half in Dortmund - like a few other players).

Here's his "kicker" rating concerning the first season-half:

I've just read it...

... and have to smile. Obviously they are still so impressed by his performance against them. :-)

Marin & Baumi must be crazy if they go to Munich ... nearby I doubt that these rumours can be taken seriously.

Ha ha. That guy obviously needs new glasses...:p

Btw: I don't agree with Bradley's (I'd give him a 3.5 or 4) and Jantschke's (2 or 2.5 in my eyes) ratings. Marin, Gohouri, Pauuwe and Brouwers played a good first half, but they were terrible after the interval, so I'd give them a 4.5 .

Ziege resigned for "personal reasons": http://torfabrik.de/profis/borussia/datum/2008/12/15/christian-ziege-gibt-co-trainer-amt-auf.html
For those who are unfamiliar with the background my interpretation:
The "personal reasons" are personal reasons based on sports.
A little time travel:
Ziege became youth coach at Borussia after the end of his playing career, with the idea to become a Bundesliga trainer someday. The former cotrainer Luhukay was promoted head coach in spring 07, but he stood on the bridge of a sinking ship. U17-trainer and popular figure Ziege was asked to become sporting director and build a new team for Bundesliga II, and took the job. Ziege and Luhukay were very successful, their team totally dominated the league, and won promotion with 6 points on Hoffenheim and cologne. Then he had the job to bolster up the squad for the top flight.

The start of the season was very poor, Luhukay made a lot of irritating decisions, he unsettled and destroyed his own team; he was sacked after day 7. Ziege coached the team for a week, and said that he sees his future on the coaching bench, not in the office; he gave up his job, Max Eberl was promoted, Hans Meyer took over the team a his last job, and Ziege became cotrainer to learn for a while from Meyer and take over when Meyer retires.

The two seemed to have very different opinions on some things. Ziege thought and still thinks the team is good enough, and Gladbach should survive relegation battle without many new players. Meyer thinks very different; he often told the media that there is a quality problem in some parts of the team, and the balance between defense and offense and talented young players and experienced quality players doesn't work. In short, that he needs some new players (because the squad has some major construction defects; the squad which was built together by Ziege). Meyer wants a break with the team politics of the last 18 months, or Ziege's politics; that is a very good personal reason to resign as assistant and former boss of Meyer's predecesor.

Here's the confirmation from "Kicker" and "Borussia.de" :

http://www.borussia.de/de/borussia_news_detail,185,0,newsid-166984.html

Although it's pretty clear that Jos & Ziege made some mistakes after promotion and overestimated especially our defence potential, I'm very surprised by this decision! Do you think that Christian (who became "Sportdirektor" in a very tough situation for the club and did a pretty good job regarding some transfers - both in sellings & purchases of players) just took the consequences for the current disaster ... or might there have been a bad relationship to Hans Meyer (there's rumours that Ziege was against Meyer's return)?

Borussia

I still can't make any sense out of this quote.

Do you think he really resigned just for private reasons (there's rumours that his wife wanted to go back to Munich)? If he was against Hans Meyer's signing (how reported by the yellow press), I wonder why he agreed to become his assistant...

well am not very surprised,if you had noticed on our bench in past few games there was no sort of love and communication going on btwn CZ & HM and CZ looked very upset with mad facial expression...id say he couldnt get along with HM or vice versa...anyway btwn HM and CZ id go with HM hands-down!

I think the up-coming season after the winter break would be Hans Meyers toughest challenge yet as a Coach:eek:
