It's really frustrating to see us cause so many pk's!
Well, today's defeat was to be expected ... and the fact that we didn't play badly & didn't concede more goals in the 2nd half, makes me get over this away loss much easier than i.e. over the Cologne & Frankfurt defeats.
Of huge importance is the next home game against Cottbus, that's a 6-points-match we badly have to win! Let's be happy that Gohouri didn't get his 5th yellow and Friend wasn't sent off for that handball...
If the defence is going to keep playing like this, I wouldn't be optimistic...In overall it's a match we HAVE to win!

Thankfully, the defence of other teams isn't better ... nearby we're going to sign 1-2 defenders in the winter break, so I'm not that pessimistic. We have to get 3-4 points out of the last 3 games, then I'm satisfied ... as I have total faith in Hans Meyer's winter break preparation!

Really nice banner from our fans.
But I think you should post that pic into the Schalke thread...

Schalke 3-1 Borussia
Borussia came away from Gelsenkirchen empty-handed on Saturday after slipping to a 3-1 defeat at Schalke 04. Rob Friend got Borussia's goal, his fifth of the season, after Schalke had opened up a 2-0 lead.

Well its very sad to see we left schalke with zero points ,true they where the favs..but during the game it was clear not only we matched their performance but in many areas we did better! Its just so dumb to gift wrap PKs to opponents like candy...and lets not even get into our ridiculous defense..i mean considering the fact that most games we have to fight back from behind..actually goes to show we have great quality, but its very difficult to fall behind by 1-2 goals on a regular-basis..and always fight back.I sure hope hans meyer has some answers for this b/c end of the season is getting close..and you never know! i just hope we can survive and at the same time beef up our D-line...steve gohouri looks great tho...too bad we dont have 2 gohouris:rolleyes:
Up front we still continue to struggle a bit, friend just cant kill it immediately...

It's gonna be a long month until January. From 2 home game we have to take all the points. Cottbus have a very weak defence, I think Meyer need to open with 2 or even 3 strikers, to get the push from the beginning.
After we have Leverkusen...If Bielefeld beat them at home, we shall do the same.
I'm happy that I'm going to see Gladbach in here :)
I can't believe they're going to play in our crappy old stadium. (We were suppose to move to the new one but they still didn't finished it )
Anyway it will be worth watching, I heard Mattheus might play a little bit, by Jammer (Our Chairman) request. :D

Cottbus have a very weak defence
But still better than ours. And they know how to play destructive football resp. to defend with 11 players in order to reach ugly 0:0 away draws...
I think Meyer need to open with 2 or even 3 strikers, to get the push from the beginning.
I think we'll have to be patient in this game and shouldn't risk too much at the beginning, since Cottbus can be pretty dangerous on counters...
Of course we need a more offensive strategy compared to the Bayern & Schalke games ... but it has to be a "controlled offensive" one. It's useless attacking blindly and getting caught on counters (knowing about our rather slow defence).
Cottbus is not easy to play, so I expect an "ugly" game and would be totally satisfied with a 1:0. Important is to get all 3 points ... and I know it's going to be tough, because the game is their last chance (they can't afford a defeat) and we often have serious problems against very defensive teams.
I expect no beautiful game but a hard fight with hopefully the better end for us!
After we have Leverkusen...If Bielefeld beat them at home, we shall do the same.
Well, Leverkusen got some problems in Bielefeld because they are a very technical side and weren't as prepared for winter conditions on a bad pitch as the hosts.
Don't forget they are still the Nr. 2 in table, nearby we have the worst home record against them (can't remember when we managed to get a win) ... so it would be pretty naive to expect 3 points from this game (even though it would be great)!
Important is to beat Cottbus, then we'll get some confidence for the Leverkusen home game and try to make a surprise like it happened against Bayern. I'd be very content with a draw in this match if we get the win over Cottbus...
I heard Mattheus might play a little bit, by Jammer (Our Chairman) request. :D
That would be really cool. ;)

"we all cheer for a yellow soccer team...."
I am basking in the glow of our championship. Thanks for coming over to our boards with good wishes. I scared our cats into the basement with my shout when Frankie Hejduk (ex-Leverkusen) scored the third goal. Then I cut out a pair of gold stars on sticky paper and added one to my jersey and one to my wife's jersey (we get a star for each championship--but the league is only 13 years old) and I took her out for a nice celebratory diner at our favorite restaurant (and yes, we were wearing our jerseys and it is a *nice* restarant--but they did not mind:D). Hope you guys get to see some highlights on TV in Europe as the goals were pretty nice. Perhaps Borussia will go after Chad Marshall in the winter break as he is out of contract and could do a good job in central defense. I would hate to lose him but we know he will go to europe soon and Borussia will sign and play North American players we know.
I am also looking forward to welcoming Kasey Keller to Crew Stadium next year too as I am sure I will bring my Keller Borussia flag to the game with Seattle next year.

If we can get the same support from the crowd we witnessed at the BAYERN game..we have a good chance to at least collect our home game points!
Hans meyer has his work cut out for him..during the winter break,is anyone on borussias radar to get signed??

Maybe our new goalie is Gianluigi Buffon. He always wanted to play for Gladbach:

Btw: Do you know Sigi Schmid personally, Ken?
I've spoken with Sigi at length a number of times at various events, but I would not say I know him. He is enjoyable to talk with though (or more exactly, listen to--you just mention something and he can talk football for hours--he is originally from Tuebingen but moved to LA at a young age). I do know our assistant Mike Lapper reasonably well (ex-Wolfsburg player) as we used to work together in our Crew Chiefs organization when he was our director of business development (but then he got a chance to coach when Sigi came as Mike played for him at UCLA and coached the US U-20's with him too) and I know our General Manager Mark McCullers personally too and I am friends with other people in the Front Office as well. I used to know more people, including some players, as some of the guys went to our church (some of the former players still do), but organizations change over time, and many of those friends have left, though I do run into them from time to time (one turned out to be the uncle of one of my U-10 boys I coach!).
Did you know Sigi and Mike brought the US U-20s to train at BMG before the 2005 U-20 World Cup and took them to a game? Oddly enough, we were all in Borussia Park on the same day when BMG played Mainz in 2005 in April.
