"In The Ghetto" being #5 is all the proof you need that this list is a big joke.

I know these lists are always subjective and supposed to spark discussion, but hell, it takes less time to find songs that actually belong than to weed out the ones that don't.

My left testicle could have picked a better Top 100.

I saw Richard Thompson last year and he played his "Best Songs of the Milennium", which actually spanned several hundred years. Interestingly, he included some Squeeze song in there, but I don't remember which. He introduced the set by making fun of critics who chose their best songs of the milennium, but who really only selected from the last 50 or so years.

I made it to Eminem, then got pissed. Then I saw that Destiny Child was next and decided I didn't need to die of a stress-induced heart attack today.

I do have to say that One and Live Forever are two of my top 10 pop songs of all time. I've long thought Live Forever is a perfect pop song, if not THE perfect pop song.

But beyond that, I've got the sneaking suspicion that this list is all some sort of huge joke. Eminem? Destiny's Child? The Q editors are laughing as we speak.

Two Eminem songs, The Strokes, Coldplay (and I love Coldplay, but 'Trouble'??), The Foo Fighters for god's sake, The Freaking DARKNESS!, Korn, Nelly, and the Sugababes.

This, ladies and gents, is what as known as 'taking the piss'.

Does the Q in Q Magazine stand for Qrap?

(I've actually never heard of this rag, thankfully)

Q magazine is quite good, normally. This, however, is cleary an idea to get people talking and to sell more rags...nothing more, nothing less.

That's the thing, it's not a bad rag usually.

This list though....<shakes head and mutters into expanding second chin about how everything was much better years ago...>

weird freakin' list that - some brilliant daring choices... and then darkness, ace of bass, sugababes, 50 cent, take that UGH!... just bizarre

Most of that list is ridiculous, so they've got to be taking the piss with at least a few of their selections.

I suppose this has mostly to do with Q being a British magazine, but I do like that they list some dance/electronic artists (The Orb, Basement Jaxx, BT, Saint Etienne, Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, New Order) on there. You wouldn't see any of those on a list compiled by an American magazine.

Surprisingly enough, the Rolling Stone Top 500 Albums list includes a couple of Massive Attack albums.

Not to mention that Ace of Base has tons better songs than "Living in Danger". Where was "The Sign" or "All That She Wants"? Unbeluckingfievable.

Wow, that is a surprise. I stand corrected.

Not to hijack this thread or belabor what I know is the opinion of the vast majority, but I've been jogging exclusively to "Protection" and "Mezzanine" for the last few weeks.

Sweeping, transporting, cohesive: superextradoublebrilliant.

Did you see that Missy Elliot is in the top 100 not once, but twice?

> Rolling Stone Top 500 Albums

This is a much more reasonable list.
