What is the general sense, among 1860 supporters, regarding their use of Allianz Arena? I have to admit, watching some of these smaller clubs playing in smaller, more friendly confines seems appealing...

Thoughts?

I like the smaller venues. I've seen games at quite a few places.

One of my favorites was AC Horsens in Denmark. We had seats in the 2nd row, right on the field basically.

This Sunday’s “Bayern Derby” To Set A 2nd Bundesliga Season Attendance Record

This Sunday’s “Bayern Derby” between traditional clubs TSV 1860 München and 1. FC Nürnberg at Munich ’s Allianz Arena will set a 2nd Bundesliga season spectator record.

To this point, 53,000 tickets have been sold for Sunday’s match according to 1860.

This already surpasses the current 2nd Bundesliga season record to this point. That was on the 14th match day and also involved 1. FC Nürnberg. On that date, the “Franken Derby” between SpVgg Greuther Fürth and 1. FC Nürnberg drew 46,243 fans to Nürnberg’s Frankenstadion.

It is being reported in a few papers that Hoeness has met with Reuter and discussed the possibility of 1860 "buying out" their contract for the stadium. Essentially, Bayern are offering 1860 the chance to pay an undisclosed sum that will pay for the future rent that would have been paid had they stayed in the contract until 2024.

I am not sure this is a good idea. Yes the rent is expensive, but the upside is the revenue we get from the stadium. I have not seen the numbers, but I do not believe we operate at a net loss once you account for ticket sales - rent/operating expenses. I trust Reuter on this issue....he has done very well by 1860 financially. If he says to stay, we stay. If he says to leave, we leave.

I didn't want to say that, but I was certainly thinking it bro.

I'm thinking about 30,000 of that 53,000 will be FCN fans.

I agree. I'd be hesitant to leave while the stadium is still such a "novelty" to many visiting fans.

As I've been saying earlier, the only reason I expect any FSV Frankfurt fans to attend that match in March is because they will all want to say they saw their team play in the Allianz Arena.

Bayern must really need the money to finance some transfer! LOL!! :D

Seriously. Where would 1860 play then? Return to the Olympiastadion? That's the only thing that would make sense to me.

I think 1860 would lose too much of the visiting revenue with a return to Gruenwalderstadion because it is too inconvenient for many fans to get to.

Am not 100% sure of this, but think the DFB has already said that GW is not possible as a 2.BL facility....just does not pass their test. Besides, I think the only way we leave AA is if expenditures exceeds revenue. Otherwise Reuter would be a moron to leave...and we know he is anything but that.

Oly? Perhaps. Operating expenses there are low but your revenue will be too.

Playing the numbers in TX today, so if I hit the powerball I am happy to buy my stake in 1860.;)

Shit. I forgot about that. I believe you are right and it is because there just aren't enough seating places.

The stadium has 6,000 seats and 15,000 standing places. Dortmund's Stadion Rote Erde (right next to Westfalenstadion) is the same way.

However, at transfermarkt.de, they say the stadium capacity was lowered back in 2004 to allow 1860 to play 2. Liga matches there.

Or am I reading this wrong? -

Anyhow, I believe inadequate seating is the same reason FSV Frankfurt doesn't play at their own stadium despite it having a capacity of 24,000.

Out of that 24,000, there are only 2,600 seats. The rest are standing places.

Besides, I think the only way we leave AA is if expenditures exceeds revenue. Otherwise Reuter would be a moron to leave...and we know he is anything but that.

Yes, and as stated before, that stadium itself is still a money maker.

Oly? Perhaps. Operating expenses there are low but your revenue will be too.

I think you lose the business of people going simply to see the stadium. I'm not a "die-hard 1860 fan", but their moving back to the Olympiastadion wouldn't reduce the number of matches I attend. Shit, I would probably go to go more games because when both teams played at the Olympiastadion, on nice weather days, I would go early and hang around the Olympiapark.

One thing I f#cking hate about the AA is that it is in the middle of nowhere and there's nothing ever going on in the stadium area on match day.

This refers to 1860 wanting to use GW as a second site when playing in the Oly conflicted with Bayern and they (1860) was thrying to save money before moving into Allianz (THAT should have been a warning sign of things to come). The DFL said that we had to increase the number of seats to 21,000 instead of 24,000, thus giving us a bit of an "out". Problem was, the City was not willing to pony up the cash to do that and, as we have learned, 1860 did not have the cash either.

I with you on OLY. Hell, it is EASIER for me to go to the AA since it is a striaght shot off the U6 for me, but would MUCH rather to to OLY.

OK. That wasn't the entire story. Thanks for clearing that up!

Hell yeah man. The AA is a beautiful stadium but there isn't jack shit anywhere near it fans would want to do before or after the match. You deal with the crowds going in, watch the match and deal with the crowds going out.

If you want to have any fun, you have to do it before and after the match in the city because again, there isn't jack shit out there at the stadium.

Nothing.

And with all the space out there, you think they'd do something to make match day more of an "event."

At the Olympiapark there was always something to do on either side of the match.....

Easy to find....

Thanks for the directions.
Enjoy!!!! HAve at least 4 for the full effect.:D

Will have at least 4!

I'm on the site right now and it gives an option to pick up at the Allianz Arena. When were you trying it???

I was trying last night. At your suggestion I have just checked again, and now there is the option of picking up at AA. I swear that was not there last night. I bought the last ticket in the second tier. Thank you!

I'm thinking that maybe they didn't sell tickets for all of the third deck.

That's exactly what is going on. As soon as I bought the last ticket in the second tier they opened another section of the third tier. I would guess at least a quarter of the third tier has been sold.

"LoewenBoy" said at the 1860 thread that Sunday will be a FCN "home match."

That should be okay. I always rooted for FCN when they were in 1.BL. They seem like an okay bunch, not like it is Rostock or something.

That is obviously fantastic news! Being able to fully train during the winter break will mean a lot going into the second half of the term.

I agree with that on Bieroka, but I think getting Schwarz back only means one more half-useful body on the bench........

The rumors are flowing about Gebhart leaving for Hoffenheim by the Winter break. I was reading through transfermarkt.de and ran across the paragraph below. Basically, it talks about Daniel Haas (the Hoffy GK) having to sit the bench with the arrival of Timo Hildebrand. Rumor #1 is that 1860 is looking to bring Haas over as he is reported to be a bit miffed at being benched after such a good run with Hoffy. It is suspected that Haas and another player (name unkown) to be sent to 1860 for Gebhart.

Second rumor has to do with the quote in red below from Ragnick. "It could be that we will secure one more [otehr than Hildebrand] transfer [during the winter break]. It would be, however, in the age range of 16 to 22," said Ragnick. Hmmmm, Timo Gebhart is 19. Hmmmmm.

Oddly enough, a friend saw a headline at the AZ which said "Timo x 2" (perhaps referring to a Gebhart/Hildebrand move) as a headline that was in the art department. Someone know something we dont?

Garry, I think you're reading a bit much into that 16 to 22 comment. Gebhardt and about a thousand other players fit into that category.

I think Rangnick wants a player 16-22 to have the flexibility of developing that player everywhere from the A-Jugend to the Bundesliga team.

I don't think Gebhardt is going to leave 1860 to sit behind Carlos Alberto, Salihovic and Luis Gustavo.

Were Gebhart to go to Hoffenheim, he'd pretty much be moving to their B-Team.

I think Gebhart knows he's good enough to go to another 1st Bundesliga team and either start or be one of the first two players off the bench.

If he goes to Hoffenheim, he'll have to change positions and might not see the Bundesliga for at least two years.

I think that kid believes his own press too much to settle for that. I think he may indeed leave in January, but I think it will be to a club he will actually have a chance of seeing some 1st Bundesliga ball for this season......

Here's the other thing. What the hell is 1860 going to do with another #1 caliber keeper?

1860 needs money, not another goalkeeper.

Dude, I LOVE transfermarkt.de. Absolutely love it. But one of the reasons I love it is because it keeps my "bullshit meter" as sharp as a tack. Transfermarkt will post anything, if it makes sense or not. That way, they catch just about everything.

You know how we've been saying recently that Reuter is no dumbass?

That's why I can't believe there will be any "trade" for Gebhart. Because Reuter is no dumbass.

1860 needs money more than anything else and if that kid goes anywhere in the winter, it is going to be for money, not a goalkeeper or other players 1860 really doesn't need.

Anyone who wants Daniel Haas to play goalkeeper only has to wait until summer and then he's available on a free. Taking him in exchange for a valuable young player would be the dumbest shit I've ever heard of........

All I can say is that I have heard this from two independent german sources and similar stuff from a non-german source. Could it be wrong? Sure. But I am not betting against it. From what I hear Hass is coming over as part of the package for Gebhart along with another player. Gebhart is going with a guarantee of no second team time for one year. Same grumblings being made on the German list now and they seem to lag such leaks by 4-5 days.:D
