Dude, that's the best bit of rationalization I've seen in a long while. Great going! :D

As far as Avalos goes, I think even '60 isn't that desperate..........
Ian is jelous of your snow. Says he wants to move back to Germany.

Tell Ian there are things about Texas he would miss too. I know I do.

I wish I could have the best of both worlds. :D

The test match tomorrow with VfB Stuttgart has been cancelled (http://www.tsv1860.de/de/aktuell/news/2008/news_2009-01-21_absage_vfb.php). Appraently they only have 7 healthy players.
Bierofka (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/startseite/artikel/503215/) and Bender seem to be on the road to recovery. Bierofka is likely for the Cup game, while Bender's knee injury appears to be a strain/bruise and NOT a tear of the cruciate ligament. Good news!!!
Ghvinianidze, Benny Schwarz, Ledgerwood and Di Salvo are all still down with various injuries. Not much word on them but my bet is that all but Schwarz are back before mid Feb. This is tough to have two key defenders and a key defensive midfielder out!
On an amusing note, eyep-tv is looking for 1860 fan reporters. Click here to see the videos (http://www.eyep.tv/index.php?id=624). Comical!!!

I read that. I was shocked.

It looks like they made up for the cancellation with Stuttgart by playing at Schalke on Friday.

Does the fact that they had recent dealings with Stuttgart (Gebhart) and Schalke (Pourie) lead to these test matches? I mean is it a throw away in the negotiations? Just wondering.

Don't know for certain. I know 1860 has GREAT relations with many teams through the front and back office. Heldt at VfB is a former 1860 player. Andreas Müller was at Schalke as a player (now front office) when Reuter was at BVB....that's a piss away from each other and they damn well met on the field.:D Pete Peters, now as Schalke, was at WAZ Dortmund for a while while Reuter was also in Dortmund.

I think many people forget all the bendfits of having a WM star at the helm of your orgnanization.;)

I think Schalke just canceled a match and 1860 just had opponents cancel on them, so they decided to play each other.

Schalke backed out of a practice match at St. Pauli because the field was unplayable.

Hamburg has sold 44,000 tickets (http://www.tsv1860.de/de/aktuell/news/2008/news_2009-01-21_dfb-pokal.php) for the DFB Cup match against 1860. Capacity is 57,000. That's not a bad pay day for 1860.:D
Erima is presenting at a convention and 1860 is being shown off. I got the home kit and the training pants/jacket for Xmas and have to say they are one of the best kits I have had. Fits nice, not 80s retro-Italian grease-boy skin tight like the Kappa crap.
An interview in Kicker online (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/startseite/artikel/503354/) with Lars Bender. In short, Kicker says "We didn't know you were a Bayer fan", to which Lars replies, "How do you come by this?". Kicker then puts its foot in their mouth repeating the unsubstantiated rumor Bender is going to them in 2010, to which Bender bascially says he would be an idiot to pledge his future someplace this soon. H wants to stay with 1860 and reach the first division but does not rule out a move should that goal not be realized by 2011 (meaning 2010 when 1860 would logically sell him so they do not lose the transfer). Bascially, nothing we don't already know...that ANY young talent we have we will sell 12 months before the contract expires so we get the transfer $$$$. The only people who don't get that now are the fans who fail to see winter coming each year.

The fact that he's not dead yet makes me question your hypothesis.

Time, my boy, give it time. God still has to finish smiting the evil people who do physical harm to others. He will get around to cirminals like Warner in his due time.;)

I knew that Lars is a smart lad....

Lars Bender: "Bayer Leverkusen is not the only club (interested in me)"

Heard an interesting one yesterday: One of the clubs interested in young Herr Bender is their cross town rivals. And I don't mean Unterhaching.:D I highly doubt it because he would see zero playing time in the BL. I think he would be better off with a team that treats young talent right like Bayer, BVB or Wolfsburg.

The old rumor was that BVB is interested in Sven. Probably as a possible future replacement for Tinga.

My hope is that the twins are part of a June 2010 1860 promotion to the Bundesliga. :)

Sorry, I still can't see it happening this season. I would be overjoyed to be wrong though.
