Below are the Kicker Rating (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/spieltag/spielpaarungsbericht/object/863797/saison/2008-09/naviindex/1) with mine in my comments. Given the 0-0 scoreline the ratings clearly favor the defense adn punish the attack.
Tschauner (3): Agree, but honestly I think he had a very good game. No, he did not need to make a ton of saves, but positioning and coverage count just as much IMHO.
Thorandt (3): I would have gone with 2,5 since he had a really good game and the save off the line.
Ghvinianidze (3): Fair. He had a decent game. For my money, shutting down a good offense AT HOME should deserve better.
Berhalter (3): Fair, another decent analysis. Same as Mate G.
Johnson (3): Agree in part, but the rating does not show how he shut down their flanks.
S. Bender (4): Fair, wbut had another strong game. The fact that quick counters were not allowed during the game is missed in this rating. Sven was strong. And when you consider he is 19 and having to control midfield against the league leaders at home I think a 4 is harsh.
Beda (4): Honestly, he had what I would consider an average game for someone of his gae/experience.
Ledgerwood (4,5): Unfair. He shut down the counters. Sure, he was not able to generate much attack, but he DID generate enough during the 90 mins to keep FCK from totally dominating the match.
Gebhart (4,5): Was hacked all night long. Hard to have a good game when you care getting "gamed" all night. That was clearly the FCK strategy to hack and pull him all night and it worked. Still think he had a decent game given the circumstances.
Schäffler (5): Had little to do, BUT if you watch how much off the ball defensive work he did (rather than sit on his arse screaming for the ball up front), then I think he had a decent game. Offensively? 5. Defensively? 3.
Lauth (5): Same as Schaeffler. He had a few shots on goal. Heck, the only reason one of teh FCK strikers got a 4 is b/c he hit the woodwork.

Garry, have you seen this Kicker article (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/startseite/artikel/500063/) on Gregg??
It was in today's print version too.

Thanks, missed this in the morning perusal of news.
I think he is the key to why they are playing well. He gave an interview (http://www.eyep.tv/2.-bundesliga/tsv-1860-munchen/1860-gregg-berhalter-in-super-form.html) after training today as to why he thinks the team is playing well. For those who spricht kein Deutsch, basically he said that the team is playing compact and in position. That they must take each game a day at a tiem and not look up or down. Also, that the team is playing together defensively, not just the back four. Lastly, that they are talking and moving together. They asked him if he had heard anything about his future with 1860. His reply? A stone-faced "nohting new".:D
Honestly, I think the MAIN reason is because we are playing to our central defense's strengths; not allowing them to be flanked too much and having to recover. Also, Beda is doing his job in defensive midfield, as well are the wing midfielders.
Now, if we could only sink a few more goals.

Here are a few facts from bundesliga.de about the 1860-RWO game:
1860 has won or drawn all matches against RWO that mean anything. They last played in 2004 where 1860 won 5-1 and drew 0-0.
In November 2004 Oberhausen suffered a 1-5 defest at the hands of die Löwen at the Grünwalder Straße.
Die Löwen are the only 2.BL team who are undefeated in their last 5 2.BL matches, accumulating 13 points...a league best. The streak actually extends further back if you count Pokal matches.
The last 5 games for RWO have ended with the home team taking the win by a margin of one goal....so the losses have been close.
Die Luginger are the only team that has not had a draw all season. They have either won or lost.
Based on the series history, it would appear that RWO would lose this weekend. Although they won their last game against Rostock, they have the worst defense in the league with 24 Gegentore.
Die Löwen have not allowed a goal in their last 3 games and have only allowed 9 goals against all season; a league's best.
RWO scores 75% of their goals in the first half (9 of 12); that is the biggest of any other team. 1860 has the second highest tally AFTER the half having scored 73% (11 of 15).
Philipp Tschauner konnte 76.9% der Schüsse auf sein Tor entschärfen - Ligahöchstwert.

Bier, steak and football at the apartment tonight.
Not thinking about Gluehwein until next month.
It's not quite cold enough for it just yet.

Appears that RWO will continue to play their 3-5-2 so it will be itneresting to see how 1860 can counter and bring the attack forward. Below is the line-up as listed. Not surprisingly, the line-up for 1860 has not changed. Kurz clearly thinks he has a winning formula. when you look back over the last 8 games or so, the only time we were out-played and lost was way back on round 3. However, offense DOES need to step up.
1860: 12 Tschauner - 16 Thorandt, 19 Ghvinianidze, 5 Berhalter, 33 Johnson - 17 S. Bender, 6 Beda, 25 Ledgerwood - 18 Gebhart - 11 Lauth, 27 Schäffler.
Bench: 1 Hofmann (Tor) - 4 Hoffmann, 9 Di Salvo, 13 Jungwirth, 14 Holebas, 20 Burkhard, 23 B. Schwarz, 24 Kucukovic, 26 Baumgartlinger, 28 Eberlein.
Unavailable: 7 Bierofka (Bandscheiben-OP), 8 D. Schwarz (Knie-OP), 21 Schroth (Aufbautraining), 22 L. Bender (Syndesmosebandriss), 29 Krauss (3. TW).
RWO: 1 Semmler - 4 Pappas, 5 B. Reichert, 16 Schlieter - 6 Falkenberg, 3 Embers - 7 Stoppelkamp, 23 Kaya, 20 Kruse - 10 Terranova, 9 Lüttmann.
Bench: 21 Pirson (Tor) - 2 Uster, 11 Aksoy, 13 Müller, 14 T. Reichert, 15 Landers, 17 Kiskanc, 22 Celik, 27 Schüßler.
Unavailable: 8 Robben (Rot-Sperre), 18 Nöthe (Reha), 24 Westphal (Reha), 31 de Cock (unklare Spielberechtigung), 33 Luz (Knie-OP).
Schiedsrichter: Norbert Grudzinski (Hamburg); Assistenten: Björn Hinrichs (Husum), Bastian Dankert (Rostock).

Well, footy and Loewen seem to be convinced... LOL
I completely get it. And again, I am relatively new to 1860. But I cannot help but love this club.
Am I ill? Is there a cure?
Well, Löwenboy (and correct me if I'm wrong, Footyfan too) were fans during the great long dark of the 80s and early 90s, when 1860 was banished to the Oberliga.
After a few seasons you'll get more realistic about promotion too, especially since starting this year the #3 2.Liga team has to play the #16 Bundesliga club in a promotion playoff. You need a solid club to finish 1 or 2 in the 2. Liga... Certainly more solid than we are right now.
I'm very antsy about the prospects for the Rückrunde this year. Way too many things are similar to last year's 2nd half disaster, we've strip mined most of our young players from the II team to play on the senior club, players have been seriously injured that we're somehow hoping to get back after the Winterpause, and 1860 doesn't have the cash to add substantial players in the Winter transfer window...
I'm hoping for the best - a nice quiet mid-table finish and none of that Klassenerhalt drama.

Kicker.de article: Manager Reuter soll verlängern (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/startseite/artikel/500371/)
The jist is 1860 President Beeck wants to extend Reuter.
Here is one thing Beeck says in the article:
"I want to continue this team-building project long-term with Manager Reuter and Coach Kurz. There is no reason not to continue this collaboration. We want to extend with Reuter."
I like Beeck. Smart move!

And yet, the 1860 Intelligencia....and I use the term very, VERY loosely....want Reuter gone. The delusions of some are interesting to watch. I think if Reuter left it would be 18 months before 1860 either 1) are relegated or 2) loose their license (again). He is the one person standing between us and dropping like a stone.

I agree with that Garry.
I always say if 1860 are stupid enough to let Reuter go, I'd always love to have him back in Dortmund.
Well, I don't want to see that happen. Not anytime soon. I actually want to see a strong 1860 again.
And I want Reuter to build it.

As it turns out, I will be in Bavaria from 9 March through 18 March...
Just so happens that Sechzig will have a home match during that time.
I wonder what of my odds to get a ticket???

Your odds would be 100% in favor of getting a ticket.
The only match that 1860 ever sells out the Allianz Arena for is Augsburg and that match is being played tomorrow night.
And I don't think that one is sold out.
The only home match during your time in Bavaria is against FSV Frankfurt on the weekend of 15 March.
I believe exact match dates for that time won't be set until sometime in January or February.
But you can best believe that for 1860 v. FSV Frankfurt, it won't be whether you can get a ticket or not, but picking which seat you want to sit in. ;)

I would not have the slightest clue as to how to order a ticket through the 1860 website.
Is it reasonable to think some folks at the Allianz may speak some English? That mixed with my bad German, we might just get to where I need to be. LOL
If not, a friend of mine over there can help me out, I hope...

They will work with you. Look for a younger person working the ticket windows.
Also, know that if you want to buy things in the stadium such a food and beer, you will need an Arena Card. They also have those at the ticket booths. You ask for card and have them load money on it. You can do with with cash or a Visa card.
There are booths in the Arena where you can re-load your card if you run out of money during the event. If you don't use all your money, you can also return to selected ticket booths after the match to turn in the card and get back the money remaining on the card.
If not, a friend of mine over there can help me out, I hope...
I can't commit to going to that match. I don't know where I'll be or what I'll be doing around that time.
But if I can make it, I'd be happy to meet you for the match and help out.
