Yeah, I thought he went to Belgium.
You can tell that article was written with a YA slant. It might leave a person with the impression that he is getting regular playing time on the U19s and also cracking into the U23s. He actually has 200+ minutes over 13 games, one game for 90s mins and two others he was subbed out. Still, decent stats for a16 year-old. Typical of 1860 not to want to burn the kid out.

According to this Kicker.de report (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/startseite/artikel/502148/), former 1860 U19 midfielder Stefan Aigner has returned to the club from Arminia Bielefeld.

Aigner moved from 1860 to SV Wacker Burghausen before the start of the 2006/2007 season. He moved to Bielefeld before the start of last season.

Aigner only made five appearances for Bielefeld this season. His longest appearance was an 18 minute appearance in Bielefeld's 2-0 home loss to Gladbach back in week 12.

Other than that, he had a four minute appearance in Bielefeld's 2-0 loss at Bochum in week 4 and a nine minute appearance during Bielefeld's 3-1 loss to Bayern at the Allianz Arena in week 11.

Aigner in the Bayern match shown here in a challenge with Martin Demechelis

In his final two appearances for Bielefeld, he was brought in during the final minute/stoppage time of the match in Bielefeld's week 13 goalless draw at Stuttgart and their week 14 2-1 home victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

In 2006-2007, playing for Wacker Burghausen in the 2nd Bundesliga, Aigner had 5 goals and 3 assists in 28 appearances.

Two of those goals and one of the assists came in Wacker's final day 5-1 demolition of SC Paderborn.

Aigner appeared for Burghausen in both matches against 1860 that season. In week 3, he played 79 minutes in 1860's 2-0 victory at Burghausen. 1860's goals that day were scored by diSalvo and Uncle Fester. :D

Aigner was substituted at halftime in 1860's 5-1 week 20 victory at the Allianz Arena. 1860's goals that day were scored by Fester (2), Adler, Ledgerwood and Torben.

According to another article, Aigner signed with 1860 through the 2011 season and will wear number 15.

The Kicker article also says Alexander Eberlein has moved to 3rd Bundesliga club SV Sandhausen (Heidelberg).

SV Sandhausen is the club Dietmar Hopp nearly bought instead of TSG Hoffenheim and he would have bought Sandhausen instead except for the fact that nowhere in Heidelberg could be found to build a suitable stadium.

Eberlein only signed with Sandhausen through the end of next season. You can bet that if he performs well at Sandhausen, he will wind up at Hoffenheim or KSC as both clubs have signed players from SV Sandhausen in the past.

No transfer fee amount in either deal was mentioned.

At the end of the Kicker article, they also speculate that a deal to send Gebhart to Stuttgart is on the horizon.........

On a completely unrelated note... Am I the only one here who is really starting to like the third trikot for 1860 (the green/gold)? I may have to pick one of those up during my visit to Grünwalder Str.

Those are the offical club colors for the entire verein. the football department's colors are white/blue.

I hate it unless we are on the winning end of moves....which is seldom.

Yeah, I had heard this was coming. Not much to tell there other than another body for the bench unless he finds old form. Kurz would know him well.

Something must have happend in the club with this kid. 18 months ago they were slotting him as the full time replacement for Berhalter just before he went to do his military service. Since then he has struggled with an injury and then finding form again. Really hate to see him leave but there HAS to be more there.

Right, that I knew... Still, even though I love the green/gold trikot, it seems like sacrilege or something.

Loewen Santa brought me a new home trikot, a hat and a training suit. All great quality and not that form-fitting crap from Kappa. Kids got new Loewen trikots as well. Loewen Santa did well by us.

Home trikot, ehh? I may have to give that one a closer look. I am still intrigued by the third (green and gold) trikot. I will have to see them up close though.

Excellent! Even the kids are getting Sechzig gear!

After a few days of silence, we can now confirm that Timo Gebhart is a VfB player!

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/502316/

He signed a contract until 2013 and is rumoured to have cost around 3 million euros. Not cheap! But he seems to be a huge talent, is only 19 and has performed well in the 2. Liga.

We'll see if he can breakthrough here, but with a 5 year contract he's definitely gonna be key for the long term and I think he can turn out to be a top player.

Welcome Timo!

I was too drunk to post this the other day. Odd that his transfer fee is EXACTLY how much 1860 needs to make their license. Nothing like having old 1860 players in the front office at VfB (Horst Held).

Some day, maybe, things will change some when Sechzig can retain their good, young talent and make a push for the upper division. My heart breaks in situations like this. I know European fussball is much different than other sports in that many players will stay for longer periods of time. It allows for fans to truly get attached not only to the clubs, but also to the individual players to watch them develop, etc.

I am getting sentimental here, I know...

Yeah. But honestly, I do think the kid is worth between 3 and 5M.

I also think if Heldt were truly trying to "help out" Sechzig, he would have thrown another half-mil in there.

I also said before I thought Stuttgart made the best sense for Gebhart.

Best of luck to him.

Sooo... does that mean Sechzig is going cheap at the Winterpause (as usual) and we won't be bringing in the 2 midfielders we so sorely need?? IMO, the kid from Bielefeld is a bonus, and not a replacement for Gebhart.

And while I like VfB as a club, selling off such a good young player like Gebhart to make license fees leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I'll have to hit one of the German boards and wallow in the disgust a bit.
