[EDIT]SORRY GUYS I DIDN'T KNOW KENN HAD ALREADY STARTED A THREAD ABOUT THE MEDIA GUIDE STATS, AND AS THERE'S NO MOD IN THIS FORUM TO DELETE THE THREAD I APOLOGIZE[EDIT]

I was just looking at the media guide for the MLS playoffs and there are some GREAT stats in there. I don't know how many of you have the media guide for the regular season but there is some terrific stuff in here.

Some highlights include:
How goals were scored:
- right foot
- left foot
- header
- other

Type of play they were scored on:
- Open play
- Cross
- Corner
- Penalties
- Free Kick
- Indirect Free Kick

Distance from where they were scored:
- Inside Goal area
- Outside Goal Area
- Outside Penalty Area

Also some things that are included
Total Shots vs. Shots on Goal
Goals by interval
Record with lead at halftime
Record with getting first goal

I'm going to make an effort to print it all out but unfortuantely i don't have a computer of my own right now so I won't be able to save it myself unless I put it on a disc for later use. Definately give this a look. It could make for some great number crunching.

Edit: also there's the catch/punch statistic listed for goal keepers so maybe we could examine Mr. Hirdts findings.

I'll note that during the MLS cup they gave a statistic of a player and his number of touches. I wish that they'd post this kid of stuff in their media guides and box scores.
