Better than with Bale I have a feeling.

:D

Its strange, because they're both quality players. Both injury-prone though.

Just found out the real reason as to why Spurs haven't been winning, and its all down to Gareth Bale! He has never won a Permier League game!

Here's a list of his Premier League appearances:

Season 2007/08
Man Utd 1 - 0 Spurs
Fulham 3 - 3 Spurs
Spurs 1 - 3 Arsenal
Spurs 4 - 4 Aston Villa
Liverpool 2 - 2 Spurs
Newcastle 3 - 1 Spurs
West Ham 1 - 1 Spurs
Spurs 2 - 3 Birmingham

Season 2008/09
Middlesbrough 2 -1 Spurs
Spurs 1 - 2 Sunderland
Chelsea 1 - 1 Spurs
Spurs 1 - 2 Aston Villa
Spurs 0 - 0 Wigan
Spurs 0 - 1 Hull
Stoke 2 - 1 Spurs

And the only game Spurs won this season (so far) vs Bolton, he was suspended!

And he started tonight and guess what.......no win

We shouldn't let this get to us, this is just a statistical abnomality. He is a quality player, just a bit off colour at the moment.

Can someone point me to something positive that Hutton has done for Spurs? He comes in highly touted and seems to always get positive comments on these boards, but I've seen him play on many occasions and have yet to see him contribute to a goal or make a strong defensive play.

Bale, on the other hand, has some work to do on D, but has shown his talent many times on the offensive end.

Aw come on, he's solid defensively. Just the absence of brainfarts that we normally see in other fullbacks - of various nationalities - makes him worth his place. Yesterday's game may have been his worst. Sure, not as good going forward as Bale.

As for results with him, they must be pretty crap overall, since he joined last January.

I dont know how Bale is much different than Hutton really. He is a downright bad defender (whereas Hutton is at least decent). Both get forward quite a bit with little end product (for the most part). Both get injured quite a bit. Pundits will tell you that Bale is far superior, and he is young, so its believable, but neither is really getting it done right now.

IMHO, Bale is the more talented player, but both are excellent fullbacks--clearly the best group of fullbacks we've had in at least 10 years easily. Hutton is better defensively--in fact he's extremely good defensively--and he is probably faster too. Both are good attacking fullbacks but Bale has a better end product. I'd say Bale is as good of a LB as there is in the Premiership when he's healthy.

Apparently, BAE wants to go back to France. Redknapp appears to have recognised Bales frailty's, and has put him at LM/LW.

The question to ask about Hutton is;

Is he an improvement on Chimbonda?

For me he is comfortably better than Chimbonda. He was poor against Arse but then its worth remembering Hutton has been pitched in straight after returning from injury and missing virtually all of preseason. Any player in that situation will take at least a month or so to get adjusted and will struggle late on in a high tempo derby.

He does need to show more end product, but the rest of his play is good.

the arse match is the first time i can remember being really disappointed in hutton. i'll take him over chimbonda (whom i also rate) any day.

I'd say so Jum. Chimbonda was actually a very good fullback, but he had a lot of mental lapses his final season with us. His first season he was extremely good, but his defending was far ahead of his attacking. IMHO, Hutton's attacking is far better than Chimbonda's ever was, and Hutton's defending is more consistent than Chimbonda's. Yes, they've both made mistakes, but I've been quite pleased with Hutton.

I think that with our back line of Hutton, Woodgate, Corluka and Bale, we finally have a back line that is good both defensively and offensively, and we no longer have to depend solely on the health of King to see whether our back line will act shambolically. We STILL need to improve against set pieces (how many years has it been that we've sucked at that?), and we STILL need a Dmid to protect the back line, but I have faith that Harry will address both of those areas soon.

Bale and Hutton are both quality, and will prove so over the coming months if they avoid injury. I also think Gunter looks like a good young player, suprising considering he was a Comolli signing!

Well Chimbo had a lot of off the field issues as he is in the papers for partying to late before the trouncing of Sunderland. He really didn't have his head on straight

Does anyone else think its weird that Hutton and O'hara have been wearing red shoes lately? Correct me if i'm wrong, but they wore red shoes for the North London Derby. Maybe I'm being petty, but would it be that much trouble to find some boots of another color? I mean, it wasnt that long ago that people were getting all bent about seeing red on the shirt at all (even if it was the sponosor's logo and they had paid for the right to have their logo appear there). Now, players choose to wear red on the field and its no big deal? Change yoru damn shoes.

I heard that Bentley still bleeds red.
