From time to time Fox Sports en Espanol broadcasts soccer matches with an alternate English audio feed, track, or whatever it's called. According to the Dish Network FAQS, we can access this track via the 'Alternate Audio' option in the receiver menu. However, I have tried the 'English' setting and the 'Alternate' setting to no avail. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Would having a television that supported SAP do the trick?

Thanks.

All my life I've heard broadcasters tell me I can hear an alternate language broadcast by pressing the SAP button, and every time I press it nothing happens....

I think it's up to your provider to carry it. I was able to access the SAP on HBO and during some baseball games (I'm thinking TBS), but no other channel, even when I know such a thing exists.

If you are watching via cable or satellite box, you have to go in the menu and change the audio preference, not press your SAP button...specific options vary according to provider, and kryptonite is correct in that your proivder has to supply the secondary audio for you to receive it.

I have FIOS and receive Fox Sports en Espanol and GOL TV as part of my sports package. FIOS has an option for which language is preferred, English or Spanish, and I by default get both in English (although FSE is only in English for most of their matches and the rest is broadcast in Spanish, while GOLTv is totally in English except for some commercials). When I switched language prefence to Spanish, I got GOLTV in Spanish, but the FSE audio was silent. Since these stations are also available on FIOS' Spanish package, I am sure that I would have to get FSE's Spanish track there.

My parents have the two stations as part of their Comcast service in South Florida where they are grouped with other Spanish language stations. When they attempted to switch it from Spanish to English by going to an alternate audio in the menu, they cannot get the English track in either case.

If you have DirecTV then you need to use channel 425 since I don't think it works on the 624? channel. You just hit the green button and it will switch from English (which is really Spanish) to Spanish (which is really English). This will work when watching live and when watching a game recorded to your DVR. But again, you need to use 425.
