Cool. United now has their own "Donger".

I hate to sound skeptical, but you have to wonder how much of this is his skill, and how much involves potentially several hundred million Chinese soccer fans changing their allegiance from Man City or Everton to Man United. Hopefully he's not all hype though. A quality winter transfer could be huge in what looks like it'll be a tight season.

Dang, the subject line of this thread had me thinking someone had finally come up with a new ninja weapon that worked better than the yo-yo saw blade thingy from Octopu$$y

He is an ex-teammate of Sun Jihai, who has done extremely well for the Bitters. Besides, he's young, so we aren't counting on him to make that immediated impact, etc.

Isn't there some 15 year old Chinese guy who is supposed to be of Adu's caliber?

Ok, most chinese fans are Man Utd fans because they are exciting and are the best. When Li Tie and Sun Jiahi moved to Everton and CIty, many switched allegiance. So there isnt so much of getting those fans to switch clubs. You walk on the streets of China most people will know Man Utd. Dong was never a teammate of Sun Jihai, Dong just got promoted to the first team last year I believe and probably never even shared a practice session with Sun.
Here is my q on this subject...to play in the EPL dont you need a work permit? How is this kid going to get one? Or will he be permitted one just because he is a united player....much like howard who barely played for the us national team getting one, while bobby convey who prob played in as many games in the past 2 years did not get one and was denied transfer to tottenham

Rules are more relaxed for Goalkeepers because of the nature of the position.

Could someone explain to me how it works financially with chinese players. I know half of Yao Ming's money goes to China. He basically has to do what they tell him to. Is it the same with the soccer players?

Good to see Utd have not lost any of their commercial sense since Kenyon left :D
