This is the most dramatic demotion I can ever recall under Fergie. WTF is going on with that?

Seriously.

All the rubbish Fergie has been spouting about Gaz and Rafael that some are buying, barely masks what looks like a serious grudge against Wes.

What's happened there then?

:(

I'm really gutted for him. He earnt that spot and is seeing it completely taken away from him by two players who aren't close to his current level.

:o

it is very puzzling to me. i thought for sure he would be in the lineup tonight, especially considering that we have Everton early on Saturday and then a bogey team in West Ham on Wednesday. surely he has to start one of those?

he was great for England... yet can't get a sniff here? he's one of my favorite players so it is disappointing to see it happen like this.

his last start was the loss to Liverpool? seems like he's been in Fergie's house of dogs since then.

Blackburn. Also started against Boro in the Carling Cup but with the way we sometimes treat the competition that could well be seen as a punishment.

Liverpool seemed to be the start of it though. Who knows? Maybe words were exchanged either at the time or when we was subsequently left out?

There's no way this is just about on the pitch. There's got to have been something said or done for this to continue.

Wes is in the dog-house. Big time.

He must've spoken out of turn or challenged one or two of Fergie's decisions. Real shame, and I hope we don't end up paying the price because of one man's pride. Brown was part of Europe's best defense.

Perhaps there was an underlying understanding between the two that Wes was supposed to be the stop-gap RB for one season until Neville returns or until Rafael is ready for the first team.

Either way I don't think it's fait and it's absurd that we have to deal with a lack of quality from said position, considering we are a switch away from what lend to last season's success.

Very sad. Wes was hugely important to our CL campaign last year, and will be needed again this year.

Very sad to see. I remember the first time I saw him in 98, and he is one of my favorite players in the squad. He's come back from multiple serious injuries, has been in great health since 2006, and finally earned a spot in the squad last season. He must have done something abysmal off the pitch for this to happen, IMO. Last season, he fought back from adversity during the contract nonsense, but now he can't even get a look in. It's going to affect him here and soon, his England place as well.

i actually don't think there is anything between them - just the selection that SAF is feeling best suits the team at this point.

if you saw them yesterday during the CL presser (Brown was there with Fergie) they were laughing and joking like nothing was a bother.

who knows?

What's even worse is that since he's been out every. single. flank. attack. has been down our right side.

Now I'm not a big Neville fan in the first place, but sheeet /Clay Davis, a blind man can see that our flank has visibly declined whilst this feud has gone on.

What's going to be interesting is if Wes gets reinstated and invariably makes a few mistakes is if he'll be blamed for that and then benched again.

This could go on for a longgg time, knowing Fergie.

Didn't see that. Who knows, maybe you're right.

Brown and Fergie were looking through some old programmers and Wes remarked how SAF had the same hair back then :p

he took a swipe at his head then and they had a good laugh.

I think that Brown kicked a boot and hit Fergie in the head.

The only explanation is that something happened between the two off the pitch. I wonder if it was innocuous at Brown reminding Fergie that he's still the best RB at the club.

It very well could be nothing at all. Fergie has to keep Gaz happy after his "recovery" from the injury, though he is yet to look anywhere near his best. He is also obviously enamored with Rafael's play. Both of those cut into Wes' time.

When another big game comes up, then we can really tell who's in the doghouse. When we play Arsenal, for example.

Why would he have to keep Gaz happy? Where is he going to go? What is he going to do?

We've looked much better without Neville. Brown has been a huge part of that. We won the damn CL without Neville. There is no reason to appease him. None at all.

Ease up. I don't think it's the right thing myself, I'm saying what Fergie's doing. Of course Fergie knows who's the best RB, and who's the number 2 right now, and Gaz is neither of those. So how else would you explain him getting this game? This is Fergie giving Gaz some minutes as he's hardly seen a pitch in weeks. It can't be anything except appeasement.

It seems bad performances against Liverpool are way to go if you want to be chased out of the club. Remember, it was Ruud's lazy performance at Anfield in the FA Cup that began his respective downfall.

I was probably one of the first to state something was wrong between Wes and Fergie but now I am not sure.
The thing is Wes has been part of the rotation and hasn't been completely shunted out. We know Fergie is very loyal to players who have been loyal to him (keane's last season) which means that he would keep playing them until something drastic happens. Rafael on the other hand probably adds more against teams who are looking to shut shop and get a draw.

I dont think anything like that has happened. The thing is that Fergie doesn’t only selects players on current form, but also considering the potential they have when in shape. And common guys we all know Neville at his best is way better than Wesley at RB. Yes, he had an AMAZING season, and Fergie has shown loyalty to him, by not considering buying a RB in the summer window. But he also has to give some games to Gary, at least to see if he is still got, and Im sure he does. Also, it is not as if he has been erased from the team, he is just part of a rotation now, and we should be happy to have all those options at RB.

As for Rafael getting some games ahead of him, those have just been games against weak opposition, were he can actually get some experience. I think Fergie is managing the situation just fine, you are being a bit too dramatic about it. If someone should be worried about his role in the current rotation it is Tevez, and not Wesley.
