Not certain why he gave it a Florida crowd, however. ;)

That's amazing... I remember my first time to the stadium in '93. Just seeing that outfield grass for the first time live brought shivers up my spine, as if I was walking on hallowed ground. New Yankee Stadium may be nicer, with wider concourses, more luxury suites, etc., but it will never live up to the legacy the old park had. They should turn it into the Cooperstown Annex, or something, because the day they tear that grand old bitch down, I will shed a tear, and something dear to my heart will be wiped away forever.

Looking at it as a Baseball fan and growing up with the game - there is nothing that can top the aura of Yankee Stadium - The History, the fame, It really is the cathedral of Baseball.

Looking at is as a Mets fan - no comment!

Regardless, New York is losing some of its History this year - yes both teams are moving into new homes and they are going to be beautiful, but I for one will miss Shea and I am sure Yankee fans will miss the old one!

I can tell you right now, new yankee stadium maybe awesome but i despise it and what it stands for.

With the fan base of the yankees that stadium should have increased capacity, instead the capacity is lowered and prices are increased.

Not to mention the ridiculous looking yankee stadium sign over the bleachers.

:(

Yes it's completely ridiculous what they are doing to baseball. I heard that the nose bleed seats that were $25 are going to be going for $100. That's just absolutely insane. If a family of 4 go to a game. You are going to be spending $400 just to walk in and have the worst seats.

No thank you. I'll pass. As it is, I've reduced my baseball exposure to just August and Sept. So I guess unless the Yanks are in it next year, I'll probably not watch anymore.

New York in all reality should have 75k - 90k stadiums for baseball. Maybe lower the cost of admission but thats not the business model they are following.

By lowering the attendance, they raise the price on exclusivity and they eliminate the lower 10-20 percent of attendees that are considered the least consuming bunch. This in turn raises the spending per fan but keeps the cost of supporting that fans experience the same or even lowers it because of the reduced amount of customers/fans.

Basically they are kicking out the cheapos and trying to keep only the rich bitches that spend money.

I never understand it. Sure, in many towns, there is a top number for attendance at a baseball game. But in New York, that numbers is massive. Drop ticket prices by $20 - each additional person will spend more than $20 in food and beer.

It's the Chinese approach - do you make something that costs $100 and only 1000 people want? Or do you make someting that costs $10 but 100,000 people want.

Imagine that an architech who likes legos. :p

There were plans to build a Legoland about 10 min from the location of the STL SSS. That local municipality turned them down because they wanted to stay small and quaint.
