Well friends I don't usually get bent, but I am really pissed
off at Comcast. Seems in their infinite, but finite wisdom
Comcast has decided to remove Channel 267 THE FOX SOCCER
NETWORK from the normal Satellite tier lineup, just in time
for the MLS Playoffs and CONCCAF Quarterfinals. This means
that for us to get our daily fix of Football we have to pay for
it now. I know $5.00 bucks a month for soccer coverage by Fox
isn't much but multiply that by 12 and were paying $60.00 for
channels we seldom watch. Why all of a sudden must they
decide to do this to us. I have had this service uninterrupted
for almost a year, and they decide to hammer it to us during
the replay of the Galaxy vs. San Jose game. Are there
any other fans such as I who leave FSN on all the time?

I noticed that as well and was wondering what was up. They also put on Setana and took that off too. When I tried to go online to see what the deal was, they said it wasn't available in my area. WTF?!?!?
I plan to call them today to see what the deal is.

COX Cable in Fairfax County is undergoing expansion in some HD and more international channels - Earlier this month they've also listed Setana as a new channel coming later in October, but I haven't bothered since then to check to see if Setana is still listed
fwiw - I get the Latino channels on Cox which means besides ESPN/ESPN2 and Fox Soccer Channel and GolTV, I also get the ESPN Deportivo and Fox Sports Espanol and GolTV Espanol (? - or whatever its called) - ESPND shows at least 3 of the ECL games both Tues & Wed instead of only one on either Tues or Wed on ESPN2 - And FSE often has slightly different games than FSC - And thats not counting what Mexican games and MLS games there are on Telemundo or Galavision

Just pay the $5, you get GolTV, NFL Network, NBA Network and a whole bunch of other sports channels...I never even notice it on the bill since I watch so much soccer and NFL network

The NFL Network is the best NFL programming by far and is a model that MLS should try to emulate. I don't even watch ESPN or ESPNW or any other channel for highlights and analysis anymore, it's NFL Network for me.

I have to agree $5 for NFL Network, FSC, GolTV, and a few more isn't really all too bad.
But isn't there some deal with Comcast no longer being allowed to sell NFL Network? Maybe since they have to give everyone NFL network for free in the future they are going to charge for FSC. I mean lets face it, people were mostly buying a FSC/NFL package for the NFL.

I'm pissed that someone on Comcast has been getting FSC for free while I've been shelling out (a bargain rate of) $5/month for years.
For a sports fan though, the Sports Tier is a huge bargain at $5/month....Big10 Network, NFL, Fox National Feeds, FSC, GolTV, NHL, NBA....heck, even the Tennis channel can be entertaining at times.

Cox has picked up Setanta and it's available for $12 a month (http://fightingtalker.com/2008/10/19/setanta-my-thoughts-after-two-weeks-of-blissful-subscribership/).

Mine was free for a while, which I thought was a goof but never got any info on how to order the soccer package.

It's always been $5 for the sports package here in Calvert Co. too.
So, are you still pissed that you have to pay $5 for it now or are you happy that you have been getting it for free all this time while the rest of us have been shelling out that money the whole time? ;)

FSC has always been part of the $12/Mo sports tier on DTV. You get a lot more than Goltv, FSC and Setanta such as the regional major networks (which is great for a college football fan) and the regional sports networks. The regional sports nets just black out the games. Sucks for a Cubs fan.
$12 a month was a bit too much for me to watch only a few DCU games per year.

I live in DC & I've always had to pay $5 for the sports tier that FSC & Gol TV is on. On the other hand my GF who lives in Annapolis gets both channels for free & she has Comcast like I do.

My beef with Comcast was over the Direct Kick package. I was told I got an early bird rate of half price for ordering before the season began. When I got a second bill installment from Comcast I called to remind them I was an early bird only to be told that no such offer existed.
