I've always loved DC United, but lately it's been painful to support such losing team. I think it is time that some new players were brought in. Time for Marco, and Stoichkov, also Ernie Stewart to go. The team looked dead against Chicago. I will always support DC, but it's just getting harder to swallow such horrible losses. Ray Hudson needs to break up the team and keep only the good players. If he doesn't he needs to go also. What do you think?

Its also not so good for MLS when your best-supported team for the first couple seasons takes a nose dive. Its amazing that 15,000-18,000 people still turn out to see them play!

i will support united although now i will go to less games at rfk and watch fewer games on tv simple because this is not the united that captivated me. another reason is the old united players were great but the new ones still have to prove that they can continue the tradition of excellence that is united. lastly etch was the motivation for going with him gone this will be a new era for the team and fans.

I hate what has happened but I still love my team. Nothing will beat going to RFK on a sunny day/evening, getting a nice buzz in lot 8, walking in to the bouncing stands, yelling with and conversing with fellow diehards (some of which I see year after year), and then seeing those moments of brillance. Petke's header vs Colombus is one such moment. Those brief moments are worth the pain. I will be back next year and there is always enough beer to dull the pain.

man....looking at all these message boards makes me believe that DCU fans are some whimps....of course i haven't spent that much money or time on DCU ever since i left for college in 99 but i've tried to catch most games here and there on tv...i thought soccer fans were the most passionate meaning that they have passion even when their team sucks....i mean its not like the Metrostars have been winning MLS cups while we've been losing...I'm a huge Redskins fan and if you want pain then watch the Dallas Cowboys create a dynasty and calling themselves "America's Team" while your team can't make the playoffs....what I'm saying is that this group of soccer players does not give us much to cheer for but the badge they where across their chest and the stadium where both DCU players AND fans call home should always give us something to cheer about.

Today's match was painful to watch. No one, and I mean NO ONE, played with any heart or desire (except maybe Warren). As much as I hate to say it (because I friggin' hate the F*re), we deserved to lose. The passing was soft, no one had the stones to shoot, and possession was as good as lost whenever we touched the ball. Stone, Keough and WhineAllDay were right about one thing: United did not play as a team. They mentioned United having had to cope with injuries and adversity all through the season, but that's just a convenient excuse. The problem is, they don't know when or how to sack up and freak like they have a pair. I hate saying "Wait 'til next year", but maybe there's some hope in it. My wish list for DCU 2004:
1-Stoitchkov does what he was brought here to do in the first place: COACH. Not play, not shove your own goddamn teammate, but coach. Or just get on the next plane to Catalunya.
2-Reyes reclaims his rightful place on our backline, and Ivanov is dealt somewhere. Then, we actually work on our depth and maybe give Stokes and Barclay a chance.
3-Our boys grow some cojones and shoot the f-ing ball. Better yet, they learn how to take pride in themselves as professionals and as members of DC United. I think players that aren't starting or on the bench should spend some time in one of the supporters' sections so they can realize just how much we're all pushing for them to succeed.
The way this season ended was a travesty, plain and simple. It's like everything went to hell after the win at the Scum. 1 win in 8 games...it's as bad as the beginning of the season. There needs to be some consistency with this club...whether that means wholsale changes in personnel or management remians to be seen. But DC United is not a "club in transition", nor shoule we ever be referred to as "rebuilding". Dammit, we are champions, and we need players that take it upon themselves to be champions.

Now that we have plenty of time to think about changing the DCU board's tag line, this one deserves consideration!
