Bye bye -- enjoyed the season-long conversation.

Be sure to take Ray, Marco and Hristo with you when you go.

No way, in my book. Get Marco and Hristo out of there, put Bobby in the middle, get Ben back, and get a new coach.

To be a little more accurate, the Pollyana statements were in deference to most of the posters who gave up on the season after 7 matches.. The team, to their credit, didn't give up on the season and got to the playoffs only to go paws up.. Let's be honest here, Chicago is the best team in MLS by miles and anyone who suggested we would take this series was being a bit optimistic..

Did the season finish well? Not in the least, but if you're suggesting that you would rather had it deteriorate to Dallas Burn type proportions, then your sanity needs to be questioned..

It's easy to look back at the last month of the season and these last two playoff games and throw stones..

Is anyone happy to see those two pathetic efforts in consecutive weeks? Hell no..

I don't disagree with letting Marco, Hristo and Hudson go.. This team needs some real organization and leadership and it's clear to me that neither Marco or Hristo or Hudson for that matter are up for the job..

Boy I'm tired of hearing this nonsense.

If your own eyes fail you with regards to Convey's ability (which frankly ought to be some sort of demarcation line dividing those who can watch a match for themselves and decide who can play or not, and those who can parrot what they hear elsewhere and/or read the boxscore the next day and claim to understand quality)...

You can choose to believe that Ray Hudson and Sormun are right,

or

You can choose to believe Bruce Arena and two Premiership managers are right.

Easy choice as far as I'm concerned -- even if my own eyes failed me.

This is ludicrous.

What has Bobby Convey done in the past few months beside one cross to Stoitchkov? Really, what has he done all year to suggest he's worth more than any other offensive player?

What did he do in this series, or even in this last game? He did nothing of note, and today's game was abysmal. He passed the ball to Chicago, or dribbled into trouble, or flubbed simple traps out of bounds almost the entire game. What are you defending?

I'm not advocating dumping Bobby, but if you're going to blindly support him and/or make excuses for him, then do that for everybody.

Nobody's doubting his abilities or potential, but at what point are those no longer enough? Some peolple have reached that point now. You clearly have not (or me either). But, you've got to at least see the reasons why they have and not be so dismissive of their point. Neither Arena nor any Premiership manager would take Bobby Convey right now, so what does that tell you?

No, of course I'm not sure of that as no one can read the gargoyle's mind. He has a habit of taking United players who are clearly playing horribly in MLS just to show up any coach that isn't him (in my opinion).

However, my point was that Arena, nor any other rational international coach would even attempt to bring in Convey right now.

If you think differently, tell me what players Convey would displace on the National team? Or any team for that matter. Where exactly would his talents and current form be utilized? Who exactly is he clearly better than? Right now, I'd take Beasley, Victorine, Quill, Chung, Davis, Kamler, heck even Jason Moore right now before I'd take Convey back into the National team. If you think differently, more power to you, but I don't see why other than the argument that he has skills and potential. That only goes so far in my book.

As I said, I'm not advocating his being given up on just yet, but the reality is that he is not even a remotely good player since July. He has to get his head out of his a** and do it before next June, or I will be on the dump Bobby bandwagon too. Right now, I think as much of him as I did Jason Moore or Antonio Otero before they got shipped out. I wish they (and he) would have done better, but there you go. This is a tough business. He won't get too many more chances.

The fact that Bobby Convey can't mesh with Etch, Hristo et al doesn't mean he can't play with Donovan, Beasley, etc.

Convey's style of play (quick passing counter-attack) simply isn't suited to Hudson's system (or lack thereof)... especially when we slow-tempo players like Marco, Hristo and Q2 in the line-up. This is not necessarily a knock on those guys... it's simply an acknowledgement that there's a culture-clash in styles. Marco and Hristo might still be effective with certain types of players around them... but not Bobby, Stewart, Cerritos, etc.

On the other hand, I have no doubt that Bobby's "funk" is likely to disappear the moment that he steps back onto the field with like-minded players like Donovan and Beasley. And you can rest assured that Arena will give him that opportunity, as he clearly established himself as a USMNT player this summer.

That's right. Bobby jumps up and down waving his arms better than any midfielder in the league.

the only thing that can't deceive anyone is that the only stretch of good soccer played all year by DC United was when he was gone. Trade him while he still has value.

It took me 7 games to realize that this team just isn't very good. If that means I "gave up" on the team then I'm guilty as charged.
