Glen Johnson makes it 1-0 for Chelsea in the 24th minute. Chelsea seem to have had more attacks on goal during the first 25 minutes, though Newcastle have managed to mount a few offensive forays.
Probably a deserved scoreline.

Newcastle came alive for a short while after the goal, but soon afterwards it became the Chelsea show again. Crespo makes it 2-0 in the 38th.

Viana comes off and is replaced by Stephen Caldwell. 43rd minute
not an injury substitution, just a tactical one

Mercifully, the ref blows the whistle for halftime. Too bad its not fulltime. We're down to 10 men, and down 3 goals. And Shearer is out sick. No chance whatsoever to steal a point.

Congratulations to Newcastle! They've made it through the first 15 minutes of the second half without giving up a goal.

Robert seems to have wasted about one million free kicks today. He is replaced by LuaLua in the 76th.

To celebrate Robert's departure, Duff makes it 4-0.

Gudjohnsen must have been bored.
He decided to make it 5-0 in the 84th.

There's the final whistle.
Luckily we have 2 full weeks off before Man City.
Chelsea must surely wish they didn't have to wait 2 weeks to follow up on their thrashings of Lazio and NUFC.

Goodness gracious, what a setback. What in God's name happened besides a dive by Mutu mentioned by ONE?

Outrageous thought here mate--actually watching the game before making comments on what happened.
It tends to make one look less a fool.
Shouldn't have been a penno i'll admit as it happenend outside the box.
Game was well over by then anyway as a football contest.Toon were being hammered by a far superior team.
As for ONE....well, Geordies aren't noted for class.

I didn't watch the match, I was only paraphrasing ONE in another thread. Whether Mutu took a dive or not, I've yet to see, but once again, I was only paraphrasing ONE. Did I take his word for it? Sure, only because I have a little bias. Guilty as charged.

You're right - it wasn't a penalty.
I tend to think it may have been a sending off, however. O'Brien was the last defender as they ran because the other defender, (Bramble?), was slightly behind them - only about a foot or two but behind them nevertheless.
I must say I did feel sorry for yer man there, Robson - Got a lot of respect for Sir Bobby.
What the hell's the story with Robert? I've seen him absolutely red-hot sometimes and sometimes it's like he's just not interested. Sir Bobby deserves better...
