It has snuck up on us, but probably not for 'Tino. This Thursday, Oct. 23rd, marks the 1 year anniversary for him. I think it woud be great if we all let him know how much we think about him with cards and notes of encouragement. He has done what a lot can't or won't do. It is a daily battle.
He has given his heart to this team and it's fans. Let give him some of that love back.

I have had some "pm"s asking what the anniversary is......it was Oct 23rd, 2007 when Santino became drug-free and started his new life.

What a great idea! What Santino is doing takes immense courage and fortitude, and the fans should give him all the encouragement possible. Santino is a very emotional guy, prone to highs and lows (just watch him on the field after he missplays a ball), and we want him to stay positive. He's been a revelation this season, and he is making his comeback with the team he started with and which invited him back (thanks, Jaime and Ben). And I suspect that the hard months are the off-season ones coming up. During the season he has teammates and coaches who see him daily and stay involved in his life, but in the offseason it is Santino himself and his family on whom the pressure falls. Stay strong, Santino!

I have watched Santino play since he came into the league...I am glad he is back with United. Some may say, you can never go home again, but Tino proves to all that one can go home again. Let's hope he stays with United and keeps improving and growing as a person and a soccer player.

So many succumb to the fear, pain, and confusion of learning to live and cope a new way.
