Montreal needs 1 point in the next 2 games to guarantee advancement. Depending on how Olimpia does, they could squeek by with zero points.

It would take something dramatic to stop them from advancing. Especially since they have Olympia at home. That said, they could still win the group! Which could be important depending on the seeding for the next round, which I don't know anything about. But if it means not playing Pachuca, its a big bonus.

In the knockout round the first place teams will be in one pot, and the second place teams in another pot and drawn against each other. Teams from the same group can not play each other in the quarterfinals but may face each other in the semis. Teams from the same country can meet in the quarterfinals.
So the pots could look something like this for the draw.
Pot A (Winners)
Cruz Azul, UNAM Pumas, Montreal, Puerto Rico
Pot B (seconds)
Marathon, Houston Dynamo, Atlante, Santos Laguna
I think Montreal was in one of the weaker groups, so whoever they play in the quarterfinals will be the hardest game so far.
and Pachuca isn't in the tournament......

Duly noted. But Marathon, Houston or Santos would still be easier than the Mexican clubs.

Well then forget everything I've said. Man, I should follow Mexican soccer more I guess.

I'd love to see them play Puerto Rico for the quarter, itd be like the USL Finals as I would have liked it to be. That or Houston, so we can finally beat a MLS side.

So how will the quarter finals shape up at this point in time?

So how will the quarter finals shape up at this point in time?
So far Montreal, Atlante, UNAm and Santos Laguna have clinched spots in the quarterfinals.
from group A I predict Saprissa in first place and Marathon in second place. For this to happen Saprissa will beat Cruz Azul in Costa Rica and Marathon will beat DC in DC next week, and then in the final game in honduras saprissa and marathon would end in a draw with saprissa being first place due to the tie breaker.
From Group B I predict UNAM beating San Francisco in their last games and Houston getting at least a win and a tie against LA firpo, si I think it will be UNAm as group winner and Houston as second place.
In group C montreal will get at least a tie at Cruz Azul to maintain top spot with Cruz Azul remaining in second place.
In group D Puerto Rico needs only a tie in their final game at Tauro to get into the quarterfinals. I think it will end up witth Santos as group winners and Puerto Rico as second place.
I really hope that the group stage does not end with all four group wineers being the mexican teams, then we could see an all mexican semifinal and that would make for a rather anticlimactic end to the tournament.
If the groups ended like this the draw could look like this.
Pot 1: Saprissa, UNAM, Montreal, Santos Laguna
Pot 2: Marathon, Houston, Atlante, Puerto Rico
With a random draw it could be.....
Quarterfinals:
1. Santos Laguna vs Houston
2. Saprissa vs Puerto Rico
3. UNAM vs Atlante
4. Montreal vs Marathon
Semis: 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4
And then of course Montreal would beat Saprissa in the final.

I think you mean Atlante?
I think half the Montreal players will get sunburned before the game, the other half will show up hungover, at least, that's what would happen to me in Cancun.
