All Cletus needs is a new environment. And we are now the bad boys of MLS, so he will fit in. Clint will provide the goals we need next year.

So, who do you trade for him?

Etcheverry, Stoitchkov, Ivanov, Barclay, Alegria, Carroll, Perea. All of 'em. If need be, throw in Warren's new brother-in-law and a couple of towel boys.

Etch and Marco will be gone next year. We will be well under the salary cap. I dunno who we trade.

If the Mutts would seriously consider Mathis, it would definitely take at least either Kovalenko, Nelsen, Petke, Namoff, Olsen, Convey, Reyes, Stewart or an allocation.

Despite the fact that they specialize in waste management up there, there's no way they would take some combination of Ivanov, Marco, Hristo, Cerritos, Q1, Cheyo, Chino, Barclay, Stokes, Carroll.

I think the question is who are you willing to give up to satisfy the Mutts into trading Mathis. The only player that comes to my mind is Convey. One Nat player for another Nat player, unless you got a good forward.

Forgot Esky... but I think he would just be a throw in at this point. No way they trade Mathis straight-up for a bust #1 pick who is too short, slow and uncreative to ever be an impact player in this league.

Since his contract is up, do we have to give something up to get him? If he resigns with the MLS, couldn't he stipulate in his contract that he go to DC (if he wanted to), since he seems to be done in New York.

I might have to give up my season tickets if Mathis comes to DC. Don't like him- don't want him. Perish the thought. I thought we were trying to improve the attitude/work ethic. He had a new coach this year shouldn't that have contributed greatly to a new environment?

Can you imagine if Etch and Marco (;)) are back next year AND we have the worthless Mathis?

Now that would be a train wreck I'd pay to see.

We do not need Cletus. We need someone like Twellmen, but we'll never get him. We'd have to give up too much.

We'd have two forwards who like to play midfield and a midfileder who wants to play back. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the 5-5-0 formation.
