Jones is out injured. If he wasnt that would absolutely be grounds for concern the man is absolute quality. T&T are really hard done not having his services, absolutely irreplacable player for their squad.

The starting XI's proposed 'til now have been wild.
Seems like BB would use vets Pearce, Hejduk, Califf, Mastro, Beasley to start.
Will Adu really start? And why hasn't Kljestan returned to Chivas if he isn't going to start?
Bornstein, Wynne, Rogers, Szetela, Davies, and Torres (and of course Perkins) will be the subs on the bench, and it is anybody's guess who will be used.

i expect adu and altidore to start...
t&t and gatemala are level on points, so BB uses some vets with those two..
this smells like 1-1 to me...
enough key americans missing for a draw
add in t&t beat mexico to go to wc 2006 finals, when mexico went with a B team...
would you rather have guatemala or t&t in the hex...
BB can determine which....as t&t hosts cuba matchday 6....guatemala is going to cuba on wednesday

Rogers crossing here:
http://columbus.crew.mlsnet.com/media/player/mp_tpl.jsp?w=mms%3A//a1503.v115042.c11504.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/1503/11504/v0001/mlbmls.download.akamai.com/11504/2008/open/topplays/10/101208_cocchf_schelotto_goal_400.wmv&w_id=26720&catCode=top_plays&type=v_free&_mp=1
Notice what flank and what foot were used on that cross. He can play either side.
My line-up:
--------------Guzan---------------
Wynne---Califf---Orozco---Bornstein
--------------Edu------------------
Rogers-------Adu-----------Beasley
-------Davies------Altidore---------
Subs: Kljestan for Davies (Adu up front); Szetela for Edu or Adu; Torres for DMB.
BB's
-------------Guzan-------------
Hejduk---Pablo----Califf---Pearce
---------Edu------Szetela-------
Kljestan--------------------Beasley
--------------Adu---------------
------------Altidore--------------

Think you're spot on as the Brits say.
Maybe Mastro instead of Szetela (boo-hoo) at DM and Orozco at CM.
Davies has got to get some time unless BB has him pencilled in as a starter vs Guatemala as pay-back for riding the bench.
Looks like Kljestan isn't needed at Chivas who have clinched a playoff spot.
What are the odds of Mexico not making it to the Hex? Unbelievable? This group of younger US players may get to play in a hex without Mexico. So TNT and Guatemala are going to be very good for them as a stepping stone.
And, how about Gibbs scoring in MLS!

-------------Guzan--------------
Hedjuk---Califf---Orozco----Pearce
--------------Mastroeni----------
-------------Edu-----------------

-------------Altidore--------------
I can also see this being used

-------------Kljestan--------------
Torres---------Adu---------Beasley
-------------Altidore--------------
Edu would be cover for the CB and/or replace Mastro in the 2nd half
Wynne/Bornstein for Hedjuk/Pearce
Davies/Rogers for Beasley

pick two from edu, szetela, mastroeni, as usa won't go 3 attcking mids...
i can see davies paired with altidore adu in midfield with beasley...torres on at the half..
don't forget the oppressive heat and humidty, no now present in the usa or europe...
it'll be a lot likethe barbados match
mexico needs a point, but it'll be harder than they think...
jamaica hosts honduras and needa a win...
if canada beats mexico, and jamaica beats honduras...
then mexico goes to honduras, and canada goes to jamaica...
if jamaica wins they're on 10 points...
a mexico or honduras winner also advances....the loser out...
a draw...3 teams on 10 points...tiebreakers, and who's in the driver seat??

Clearly Hejduk is going to start and Pablo is going to start. He wouldn't have brought them in otherwise. Especially Pablo. He'll fill in for Michael.
Beas will probably start, but Robbie will sub for him in the second half.
I look for Torres, Adu and Altidore to definitely start.

The latest is no Mastro, no Rogers (both injured), replaced by Carroll & Rolfe.
http://mnt-ussoccer.blogspot.com/2008/10/roster-update.html
Colorado Rapids midfielder Pablo Mastroeni has been ruled out of Wednesday's game against Trinidad & Tobago after tweaking his knee in the 3-2 loss against Los Angeles on Sunday. The two-time World Cup veteran has been replaced by Columbus Crew midfielder Brian Carroll. The 27-year-old has six caps for the United States, making his debut in the 6-0 win against Panama in the World Cup qualifier on Oct. 13, 2004 at RFK Stadium. Carroll boarded a flight this morning and will reach Trinidad later this evening.
Crew forward Robbie Rogers has also been sidelined, the Olympic alumnae experiencing a sore back after taking a hit in the 2-2 draw against Chicago. Fire forward Chris Rolfe has been added to the mix, and will arrive into Port of Spain on Tuesday afternoon prior to the team's official training in the stadium. Rolfe has played eight times for the full team, most recently in an appearance in the USA's 1-0 win in Barbados on June 22 in the second round of qualifying.

Too bad about Robbie. I wonder, was it the ridiculous knee in the back/buttocks from Prudeaux? That was nasty.

Too bad for Robbie but it gives us better chance to see Szetela.

Prediction:
---------------Altidore----------------
------Beasley----Adu-----Davies------
------------Edu---Kljestan------------
Pearce-----Orozco---Califf-----Hejduk
---------------Guzan-----------------
(Personally, I'd rather see Bornstein and Wynne, but I think we'll see the above.)

I'm not so sure- I've read reports that he may not be 100%. That's why it's dicey to predict the starting lineup unless you know the health of all the players. We'll see...

Wow, this is an interesting development. Have to wonder if BB would have sent home all of the "experience" had he suspected these circumstances were forthcoming.

If Bradley/Kljestan is first choice, it's hardly a drop off at all going to Edu/Kljestan as starters. Szetela is a good back up for those guys and Carroll's glass won't get broken except in an emergency.

Brian Carroll??
Good guy, Good worker, Fits great into MLS game plans but Brian Carroll is who we're calling up for this game?
Don't we have enough options at central Midfield???
He's played wonderfully this year, and I can see this as a reward for that. But why not call in the guy from the Crew that actually has potential to challenge for meaningful time (Marshall)??
Overall, still not bad choices.

Rolfe for Rogers? I just don't get it.
And Holden?
BB called in Carroll for Mastro?
And Clark? Thorrington?

Rolfe and Carroll won't see the field. Veterans make much more sense than prospects on this short of notice. They are flying out alone and won't get much, if any, training time.

Bad luck for Robbie. He was going to have a shot to prove himself but I guess he's going to have to wait until November, possibly January, to leave an impression on the coaching staff.

Some will say the following line-up is too young, but who cares if we lose. The purpose of this game should not necessarily be the final score, but to see what some of our players can do in a real game...real meaning it's real for the opposition.
Altidore
Adu
Torres Kljestan Edu Szetela
Pearce Orozo Califf Wynn
Guzan
It's not as defensive as you might think since Torres is more of an attacker. The only reason I want Pearce in there is to see more of him. We can put Bornstein in at half. I don't think Wynn is really int'l quality, but let's see what happens.
It's just too bad BB didn't call in EJ so that we could give him another shot. He's just got so much speed, potential and he's in England.
