Could be the dizzyness coming from having to switch from which starters are left to play to which reserves to play.
This from the match preview, hope it helps sort things out a bit.
REFEREE: Baldomero Toledo. SAR (bench): Craig Lowry; JAR (opposite): Peter Balciunas; 4th: Jasen Anno
MLS Career: 63 games; FC/gm: 27.0; Y/gm: 4.0; R: 25; pens: 24
INJURY REPORT: HOUSTON DYNAMO - OUT: MF Geoff Cameron (R hamstring strain) ... D.C. UNITED - OUT: MF Domenic Mediate (concussion); MF Jeff Carroll (broken metatarsal); MF Ben Olsen (ankle surgery); MF Fred (hamstring strain), MF Marcelo Gallardo (MCL strain); MF Quavas Kirk (foot); QUESTIONABLE: FW Luciano Emilio (hamstring strain)
INTERNATIONAL ABSENCES: HOU: Brian Ching (USA; vs. Cuba, Oct. 11); Kei Kamara (Sierra Leone; vs. Nigeria, Oct. 11)
SUSPENDED: DC: Jaime Moreno (through Oct. 12)
Ouch- seeing that makes my jaw and imaginary DC United Club Wallet hurt.
Possibly both of our DP's and virtually 2 of our captains might not play.
Holiday weekend + internationals and MLS's inability to take off a weekend for them + the craptasticness of the team right now = people not really giving a shit.

So, with what's left, what I'd like to see-
------------------Crayton-----------------
Namoff------Peralta-------Janicki-----Burch
Cordeiro----------Simms----------Guerrero
----------Quaranta-----Khumalo----------
-----------------Doe--------------------
subs: Vide,Zaher,Thompson,Miller,Carroll
I'd be anxious to see after Saprissa what more Doe could do with a little more support behind him. Only real puzzles for me are who to play at RW and how subs sort out for our remaining matches.
Maybe play Thompson at RW so's Cordeiro can stock our bench with better offensive option? Miller showed ok, but needs to learn who trumps who on throw-ins. Yeesh.

Is DeRo available for Houston? If he is, I'd give serious consideration to having the Simms and Vide midfield combo. And have Tino and Doe as forwards.

I've been pretty impressed by Vide, especially with his aggressiveness. I'd look for him ahead of Cordeiro. Otherwise, this looks pretty good.
Boy will we miss Jaime!

I'd put McT in for Cordiero.

If we want to score goals, instead of just prevent them, I don't think you can leave Doe up top by himself. Santino and/or Khumalo are going to have to keep a high line. And if DeRo plays, I wouldn't want Simms to have to deal with him alone. That may suggest Vide or McT in central midfield along with Clyde.

What's wrong with you people? We win out and go into the playoffs confidence and momentum. It all starts with Houston.
Vamos!

If you think we're going to win out, on the road in Houston and with game against New England, please to send me some of what you're smoking, because it must be phenomenal.

We need some of the same spirit the boys showed in Costa Rica the other night. Houston is ripe for the picking. We need to have nuts to go and do it.

I'm also on the Janicki bandwagon.
---------------------------Crayton-----------------------------
Namoff-----------Peralta---------Janicki--------------Burch
--------------------McTavish---Simms------------------------
Quaranta--------------------------------------------Guerrero
---------------------------Boyzzz------------------------------
-----------------------------Doe-------------------------------
That's what I'd like to see, but I imagine we'll see Tino and Boyzzz switched, and probably Vide for McTavish, and McTavish for Janicki.

"Game over man! Game over! Whatta we gonna do now? WHATTA WE GONNA DO?!"
"How 'bout we build a fire, sing a couple of songs or something...?"
I think the alien has popped out of our chest already.
(ps. who would have thought that I'd make two posts about chests in one day in a soccer forum?)

I'll start passing out the psychedellic toads. You're going to need a much trippier high if we're going to try and envision DC winning on the road against Houston. :D

"I'm not NOT licking toads!" ;)
It's simple, really: just go for it. Don't hold back. I say we give some of the most impressive players in Costa Rica their reward and start them over our anemic regulars. Go ahead and put in Janicki and Zaher, for example. As long as you keep Wells the hell off the field.
