Anyone want to play against the US MNT at RFK? Apparently Cuba needs a forward and a midfielder.
Soccer Insider (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/soccerinsider/2008/10/two_cuban_players_disappear.html)
Midfielder Pedro Faife and forward Reynier Alcantara disappeared from the team's hotel in Crystal City in the past two days and cannot be located, Cuba Coach Reinhold Fanz said today while the depleted team practiced at RFK Stadium.
"It is always a problem for the Cuba team," said Fanz, a German. "We have security, but you can't handcuff them to their rooms."
Does Vegas have odds on whether Cuba will have enough players to field a team by game time?

Pretty soon, there are gonna be more Cuban national teamers living in the US than in Cuba.
To field a team, Cuba could just have a camp for the ex-pats in Miami.

Gotta wonder how many more will "disappear' before the team leaves to go back to Castrotopia

Think about it - these are the soccer players defecting. These guys are defecting for a chance to make USL and, if they're LUCKY, MLS wages.
You know when you're walking away for USL and MLS money, you're home is pretty much a shit hole.

Now Sandon, don't go into Politics forum and start spreading those kinds of lies. There are plenty of people down there who have seen how horrible the US is on TV and how great the health care is in Cuber. Michael Moore said so.

How many do they have on the roster now? 21? 16? It'd really suck if they got devastated by "disappearances" like at Oly Qualifying, that was just sad.

Alcantara looked pretty good in the 2007 Gold Cup, I bet he gets signed by an MLS team.

Did you see them on a boat?
We're they hiding with a goat?
No, not on a boat, not with a goat!
I cannot find the Cubans can't you see!
I cannot find them Castro, now let me be!

The only thing that surprises me is that more of them didn't split.
And my guess is the two guys that left are in their uncle's minivan on their way to Miami right now.

Wait... This thread is NOT about two cigars being taken from the humidor in the study even after you told everyone (especially Uncle Alvarez) to stay out of the study?

Maybe this two guys are only wanting more liberty. People in dictature countries dont mind about economy crisis.
And, the whole world is having crisis, so they only chose liberty.
