hamstring, he's out for the WCQs, not too devastating, but it is what it is.

Not too devasting? I am sure he is devasted because he was surely going to get some playing time over the next couple of games which are very important to him getting a spot in the squad consistently. I too am devasted because I wanted to see him play since he is this best CB we have.

It would not surprise me if the "hamstring injury" was not just hyperbole to put Califf or Orozco on the 18 man squad.

Actually, the hamstring has been an issue before we came across the pond. He was replaced during a Carling Cup match against West Ham in late Sept. That was a weekday affair and he missed that weekend's match against Sheffield United. The next match he came off the bench against Burnley; the last game before coming to the US Camp. The hamstring has been an issue. So sorry to burst you bubble that it's not conspiracy.
Just for the sake of info scroll down a bit at Watford's injury report:

Hey, I love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy but I knew this wasn't one :D
Though it does pave the way for an Orozco debut which I'm eager to see.

Hmmm, Trekker called DeMerit our number 1 Defender.
Bradley did call back in Jay DeMerit, who despite toiling away at Watford is probably the USA's No. 1 defender. Why he's not ranked higher is, well, inexplicable. Again, here's a guy who is solid on and off the ball, and has the smarts to back up the grit. He doesn't make the howling mistakes our other defenders do, but, to be fair, he also is not as much of a scoring threat as Carlos Bocanegra or Oguchi Onyewu. That said, if you need to be getting your scoring from your central defense, something is very wrong.

Anything and everything Jamie Trekker writes is completely rediculous. If he wrote that the sun rises in the East I would begin to doubt it.

{snip}
So we can say, 100% sure, DeMerit is not our #1 defender

This is a real bummer for DeMerit, as I had been hoping he'd use the T&T match as a showcase to create some separation from Danny Califf as our #3 guy.
Hopefully this hamstring issue won't become a recurring problem, but as m vann pointed out, he originally picked up this injury while playing for my beloved club about a week and a half ago.
