Off topic for DCU, but since it's a regional thing to Northern, VA, I figured this was the best audience :-)

Setanta is now available on Cox Cable for Fairfax and Fredericksburg subscribers.. Enjoy :-) Let's hope it's HD?

I'm guessing that Setanta (which arrives October 22) will be on the sports tier along with Versus, Fox Soccer Channel, NHL Network, GolTV, et al.

That costs me $2 a month.

Is there also a plan for Setanta to launch on Verizon FIOS?

This is going to cost me several manicures/pedicures to my wife.

She's already mad enough that I'm watching MLS on FSC/ESPN, Bundesliga on GOLTV and EPL on FSC every week.....if I start watching Coca Cola Championship and the 23rd pre-group qualifiers for the UEFA Cup on SETANTA...holy crap. Here comes the pain.....

Oh well...it's worth it.

Are they serious? I'm not paying $13 for ONE channel.

We rolled out on Verizon already. Here's a couple, Indiana, Portland, California, New York, New Jersey, Philly, Maryland, Florida, Texas and countless others.

Check with your local veriszon they should be able to tell you the local roll out dates for your neighborhood.

Come on, 14 bucks ain't that bad in the area of Football

It's worth every penny. They show international matches, EPL matches, and, most important for me, they show tons of rugby.

Funny.

To each his own I guess.

I'd watch it almost exclusively for SPL and Coca Cola Championship matches.

They show a lot of cool stuff, it's true. But purely on principle, I can't do it. I can't rationalize spending more on on Setanta than I do on all of FSC, GolTV, Fox Sports Espanol, all the regional Comcast Sports Nets, all the regional Fox Sports Nets, NESN, Altitude, MSG, ESPNU, NBA TV, and a zillion others all combined. Their pricing just seems insane to me.

I certainly don't like paying the extra money, and it is priced disproportionately high compared to the other sports channels, as you point out. However, they show all kinds of rugby (World Cup, Six Nation, Tri Nation, Super 14, Rugby League), and after paying $20/head to watch two RWC games (a couple of times) last time, it's worth it to me.

You can also see a lot of WCQs and EPL matches you couldn't see otherwise. I don't know that this is all that important to me given that I have only watched DCU and USA matches this year.

I haven't had Setanta since I left DirecTV. FIOS has a slot for it and they say it'll be offered soon. I intend to sign up as soon as I can.

When I get GolTV and Fox Soccer Channel (along with NHL Network, Golf Channel, NFL Network, NBATV, Versus, ESPNU, and The Tennis Channel) for $2 per month, total, $14 per month for one channel is outrageous.

It's already on channel 1009 in Montgomery County. In fact, FiOS is planning to have the same channel numbers for every market.

Depends upon how badly you want to see rugby. If you don't, fine. The extra WCQs and EPL games aren't worth it, IMO. I want to see international rugby and am willing to spend money to do so.

It's in my channel lineup, but not active. I couldn't activate it using the remote so I called in and tech support couldn't activate it either. They said "it should be available soon." We'll see.

Back when I still had satellite and then switched to cable (trees in the woods behind my house got too tall to see the bird) I paid $69.00 per season for the MLS Direct Kick package. That works out to about $12 / month for a single sport in a single league.

By comparison Setanta seems like a real bargain, at least IMO.
