Only bright spot in this 1-1 draw was the goalscorer for the lads. Robert comes through again.

Robert and Shola were our outstanding players.

In spite of having most of the play, I don't think we ever had a grip of the midfield, which Villa packed with 5 players. JJ in particular struggled.

At the back, it took some time for the central partnership of Titus and Steve Caldwell to look comfortable. In the meantime, Villa took the lead when (for the second season running) Dion Dublin was left completely unmarked to head a goal.

Villa - in particular Sorenson and Dublin - defended very well after that. To be honest, we didn't play well enough to deserve a win, and if you miss penalties you can't complain.

Any word on when Woodgate might return?

He says he is aiming for next weekend, at Chelsea.

I would prefer him to be rested until two weeks later (Man Citeh (h)) if there is any doubt about his fitness.
