I wonder if we can get him back. Not only is he a great player, but he really played with fire in his belly. Colorado clearly doesn't think he's worth what they paid. Can we do like we did with Moreno a few years ago and basically call a do over on the trade? :o

My bet is that he'll go to Seattle in the expansion draft. Should be an interesting off-season though.

The real dream for me would be to keep both him and Gallardo, somehow, someway. Can Christian play Jaime's role? Can Gallardo do an Etcheverry and collect the ball from midfield? If we dump Kirk and Peralta, there we have it.

Kirk costs us next to nothing as a GA.

Actually, now that Seattle has practically signed Freddy Montero, they probably won't get Gomez.

be nice if he would take a little bit of a pay cut, and come back.
This team misses him.

That would be nice to have Gomez back, having him play that Secondary striker role next to emilio.

Why in the hell would we want Gomez back? The FO was able to find an Argentinian that demanded 6 times the outrageous salary Christian wanted.
Sure, Gomez can play and has tons of heart, but you just can't put a pricetag on what bringing in a name player like Gallardo can do for your team, regardless of how little he plays or how little he plays when he does play.
Like you need it:

I hope a deal can be struck to bring Gomez back. Anyone who travels on their own to a road game to sit in the stands and bang on a drum with the fans has earned a lot of respect in my book. Clearly 2008 has not worked out for DCU or Gomez. And bring back Esky too while we're at it.

We brought back Moreno in 2004 and we know how that worked out. ;)

Petke, Erpen, Gomez... all went to Colorado... but... what can the team give to get Gomez? (Fred? Quaranta? Boyzzz? Crayton? Martinez? Burch?) There's not much I can see Colorado wanting or DCU having to make the trade. Could the Rapids want allocation money, or draft picks:confused:

Offer them Fred straight up if Gomez will take a reasonable pay cut or if Colorado agrees to pay part of his salary. Quaranta plays the same position as Fred at about the same skill level & Tino is younger, bigger and cheaper.

Fred is one of our best players. We fleece Colorado all the time. They will be happy with draft picks and Francis Doe. Trust me.

They have no use for a player taking up a ton of cap space. For the Rapids, losing Gomez would be addition by subtraction. It won't take much.

Ummm - don't we want to know WHY Gomez is rotting on the bench in CO, before we try to get him back? Could the answer be that his skills have diminished and that the bench is the appropriate place for him at this point in his career?

Kirk loses GA status after this year, if I remember correctly.

Hush. Rationality has no place in this discussion.

^^^ With gomez from what i hear its a fitness issue, but i am sure he could def. be a great option to switch up or take moreno's role as Withdrawn forward, or bring him back to switch up with Gallardo?
I wish we could get cristian back just based on how he constantly was scoring for us, or making those hard through ball runs that we all wish emilio could do.
I rather take that DP money from emiilo and give it to Gomez.
Edit: and those that say bring back esky, anyone remember his bad habits of coming back to recieve the ball like Emilio and not being able to score like he used to?
He lost it IMO, i loved the guy, but after that concussion he just lost that edge he once had that was soooo full of potential.
