That was ugly. Crayton's blunder seemed to suck the life out the boys. They just never got it together. Looks like an early off season. Which is probably a good thing at this point. :(

What, exactly, is there to discuss?

Okay then, vent.
Or mourn.
Whichever.

I hope they lose the remaining games as there is no way Soehn can survive that skid.

I actually left at the 70 minute mark -- no sense waiting around for the corpse to begin to stink. That was 2001-2002 awful.

See ya'll next season when hopefully we'll have a new coach and team that can get it's shit half together. I'll say what i said at halftime of the last CCL game against Cruz Azul and again after we lost that game 1-0 .......... the reserves that we had playing in that game played with 10 times the heart and hustle that our "starters" have played with over the last month. This game just confirmed that. We're not getting into the playoffs with Fred still struggling with the hamstring problem, Emilio still struggling with the hamstring problem, Gallardo just getting back from surgery, Peralta just getting back from injury, Moreno still suspended for another game, and games on the road vs. the 2 best teams in the league with a 3rd against the next best team in the league at home.
As far as i'm concerned, play Janicki, Cordeiro, Koroma, Kirk, Zaher, Doe, Khumalo, Miller, Thompson, Thorpe, Dyachenko, Carroll for the rest of the season. You can sub in a couple of starters depending on the game situation from there. At least I trust that those guys will leave everything out on the field.

We're making every team, no matter how bad, look all-world. We just don't have a team anymore - we have a collection of players on the pitch. Some are good, some are ok, and some are bad.
That was as bad a job of goalkeeping as I have ever seen, including by Mr. Z. Wells. I know who/what is going to be Coyote Ugly tomorrow, because it sure-as-hell was tonight! :(

Here comes the predictable quote:
"We started off alright, and were doing well til we were down a goal, then we didn't finish our chances and forgot how to play soccer."
"Challenger go at throttle-up"

Dreadful performance tonight. DC seemed to be playing a 3-7-0 in the first half. The alleged forwards, Quaranta and Khumalo, were deep in the midfield. After a while Gallardo drifted up to the front line since there were no players ahead of him to pass to. What can I say about Crayton's goal. We all knew it would happen eventually. His gaffe came at the absolutely worst time in the game and perhaps the season. DC needed points tonight. It wasn't producing any decent pressure on offense so conceding a super cheap goal was a killer.
Given the other results tonight, DC isn't officially dead. But if the zombies who played tonight are the ones who play the rest of the season we're done for. Time for Kevin Payne to start thinking of the plan for next year. I'm thinking it's time to send Kasper packing. By and large, Gallardo, Peralta, Carvallo, Neill, and Martinez were a bust. DC's second tier domestric players are sub par. And with Moreno and Gallardo one more year closer to retirement, DC is going to have to make some tough decisions. I feel sorry for Tom Soehn. I think his train may be starting down the track as well.

This team, as a whole, is not fit to wear the shirt.
I haven't been this disgusted with the team since '02. I got fed up after the second goal and watched the rest of it from the Red, Hot and Blue stand. While I have to admit bailing from the supporters' sections tonight I watched the Barra and the Eagles go at it for the full match and all I could think is that this team simply isn't worthy of that level of support.
I've been willing to cut a number of players slack because of injury and I thought Gallardo looked good before Crayton essentially fragged the team, but we can certainly find domestic players able to play like Peralta and Martinez for a hell of a lot less money.

I realized, watching that game, that I couldn't pick out the expensive players for Utd. And I don't mean that in a good way! (ie I don't mean that the less expensive players were doing so well)
My only other question is -- do the other MLS teams change players so constantly? Seems like Utd has had 3 teams worth of players this summer. It's hard to imagine how they would look like a team when the same players never play together.

What was that tonight? TS's way of thumbing his nose at the FO? Let's play all of the money guys, surely they will lead us to the promised land. Fat chance! I would rather see a team like the one that played against Cruz Azul than these guys who are just phoning it in. This is not the DC United I'm used to seeing. These guys could care less about our tradition, it looks like all they are interested in is the paycheck. As far as I'm concerned, it's time to say goodbye to KP, DK, and TS and staff! This organization needs a face lift and you're not going to get it with the management and coaching staff that's there right now.

Wow, that was horrible
That team stopped playing for each other after the first goal...the body language on the field was terrible. Gallardo was in no way ready to play.
Thanks at least to Tino, Vide and Guerrero for putting in some effort.
Time for Soehn to go...like before Wednesday...
