THe names mentioned abouve are without a doubt great.

But IMO, I think the greatest artist (composer, producer, musician, & vocalist) is without a doubt Juan Gabriel.

Sure there are great vocalist who have a better voice (in the music category that they are in) than him like a Luis Miguel, but to me when an artist not only writes and sings his music, the passion is there.

There are literraly thousands of people that sing his songs at the professional level and much more at the amateur level.

It is a coincidence that when an artist's career is in a downward spiral, they sing one of his songs? For example, take Rocio Durcal. He career dint have much of a pulse... all of a sudden she decides to go to Mexico..sing a couple of his songs... and her career is back. Her demnd increases back in Spain. THen so goes to him and ask Juan to write her some songs. HE literraly has written hundred of songs for other artist. IIRC, he has more songs copyrighted than any other artist.

But... there is no who is the best composer... the best music critic here is yourself. I personally admire the man and his art and music. I love listening to his live albums... much more than his recorded albums
