Sounds like he's making a good recovery from injury. I hope he gets back to 1st team play soon, and then progresses to where he can rejoin the USMNT.

Let's see Specs get some club playing time under his belt and then start considering him for the senior side.

If we held everybody to that standard, could we field a team? ;)

By the way, I find it hard to believe that Spector is only 22 years old. Can't wait to see him back on the field, and I hope he gets some time at center back.

We'd have Tim and a bunch of MLS/Scandanavian league guys. Don't think I'd like our odds to survive the Hex. I'll probably have nightmares after imagining the lineup we'd have to use. Copa America-like results?:p

Off the top of my head, these guys are regular starters for their teams...
---------------Howard
---Dolo----Gooch----Boca----Bornstein
----------Clark-----Szetela
------Donovan---------Rogers
-----------Ching-Cooper
I don't see why they couldn't get out of the hex.

They'd get out of the hex, but it's interesting to see that 6 of the players are from MLS.

We need a bit more than that starting lineup. Here's my take on some guys to keep the Bornstein's out of your lineup.
Hope for pt in the near future: Bradley, Adu, Spector.
Learning role this year for club: Altidore and Edu and Guzan
probably fit and reasonably in form and still not playing: Beasley, Dempsey, Pearce
Everyone else: lower on the radar and need to make an impact to get in the discussion
Seriously, Bornstein? What's he done in MLS this year worth a call-up?

Simek will alo be back for the Hex if needed. I've been impressed with him every time I've seen him. He's had his share of injury problems, but he's been great for Wednesday when healthy.
We're certainly deeper at right back than left back. (no surprise, I'd imagine most countries are). In fact, Spector can play left back as well.

I don't think Bornstein has been a regular starter with Chivas recently. Francisco Mendoza seems to be receiving the bulk of available minutes at left back.

Good point. Frankie Simek is a guy who is constantly underrated on these boards. I'm still projecting him to be in our final 23 for South Africa.
And Jonathan Spector, as Clint Eastwood mentions, was originally integrated into the squad as a left back by Bruce Arena. He's certainly capable of playing anywhere across the backline, and when healthy, I wouldn't have a problem pencilling him in at LB if Pearce's club form doesn't merit a call-up.

.
I haven't followed them all that closely, but I remember for awhile they had Bornstein at left mid and Mendoza at left back. He seemed to acquit himself pretty well there, but that's not exactly where he's most needed on the nats.

Bornstein has missed a lot of games with Chivas this year, played right back and left mid, in addition to left back when he has been healthy. So, yeah, it's fair to say he has not advanced his career this year. Just one note, if you are judging by the last two weeks, Bornstein didn't start because he is coming off an injury, a concussion.

If you want a team full of guys getting minutes with their clubs how about something like this? This would be a real good team.
----------------------Howard---------------------
Cherundolo----Onyewu----Bocanegra----Harrington
Donovan(C)-------Szetela----Kljestan-------Rogers
