Charlton Athletic offer its fans (and media) a free daily e-mail news bulletin.
Today's bulletin is below, as an example of what you get. To receive the bulletin, send an e-mail to the address listed at the end.

Chelsea chase first win in four games

The omens are good ahead of Charlton's first game of the season against
Chelsea tomorrow - Kevin Lisbie has had his car stolen.
Claudio Ranieri's side will visit The Valley aiming to improve on a
record which has seen the Blues convincingly beaten four times in the
past four meetings.
But if you want to know why the Chelsea manager will be hoping Lisbie is
reunited with his vehicle in the near future, you'll have to read Terry
Cordwell's internet preview, available in the near future at
http://www.cafc.co.uk.
Tomorrow's match kicks off at The Valley at 3pm.

Putting Charlton First

Fans disappointed with the lack of Addicks coverage in national
newspapers should make the most of Sundays from now on - as Charlton
dominate the front page of one tabloid.
This weekend sees the launch of Charlton Sport First, a new partnership
between the club and the newspaper to bring supporters in depth match
coverage and news from The Valley, including a column by Addicks
goalkeeper Dean Kiely, while also containing all the rest of the
national football news.
The cover price of the new venture across South-East London and Kent is
just £1, so make sure you order your copy at your local newsagents now.

Club connection

Finnish striker Jonatan Johansson could line up against club teammates
Mark Kinsella and Dean Kiely next Wednesday after receiving confirmation
of his call up for his country's international friendly against Ireland
in Helsinki.
The Finland manager was at The Valley for Charlton's 2-2 draw with FC
Porto last Saturday, and will no doubt have been impressed with JJ's
late equalising goal.

Reviewed Valley Review

A new season means a new-look Valley Review will be unveiled at The
Valley tomorrow, with the matchday programme undergoing a stylish revamp
during the close season.
Still priced just £2.50, tomorrow's issue catches up with all the summer
events, and also introduces the club's two new signings, Gary Rowett and
Paul Rachubka.
There's all the usual columnists and features, along with a few new
additions, and fans could also discover what part of Steve Brown's
anatomy assistant manager Keith Peacock rates above all others.
The Valley Review will be on sale as usual from the Superstore and
sellers around the ground.

Still Sasa stars

He may have left Charlton, but there's no keeping Wembley play-off hero
Sasa Ilic out of the limelight as his performance against Manchester
United proved on Wednesday night.
Ilic kept a clean sheet for Hungarian champions Zalaegerszegi as they
took a shock 1-0 lead against the Red Devils in the third preliminary
stage of the Champions League.
The second leg will be played a week on Tuesday.

Mendonca of the people

He may be a Charlton legend, but 'Super' Clive Mendonca takes no
liberties - as could be seen at the Addicks recent match against FC
Porto at The Valley.
Despite his connections with the club, Mendonca was quite happy and
prepared to queue up for a ticket to the game, taking the time to sign
autographs for supporters while he waited.
The man's myth continues to grow.......

Coverage continues

A limited number of tickets are still available for tomorrow's opening
Premiership fixture and London derby against Chelsea (3pm).
Fans who are Valley Gold members, all CAPS members, current
season-ticket holders and season-ticket holders from last season with
their membership number can all purchase seats, priced £30 adults, £25
seniors and £20 juniors.
The current Valley capacity has continued to rise over the summer and
now stands at 26,875 with the addition of the new west stand press
gantry and installation of extra seats in the east stand.
Among the first to take advantage of the new facilities will be the
Capital Gold commentary team, who will be covering the match live on
1548AM, while internet users can hear the commentary at
http://www.cafc.co.uk.
The Charlton website will also carry its usual coverage, with a match
report and statistics available within ten minutes of the final whistle
and the managers' press conferences and pictures following later.

Handbook on sale now

Even as the Bulletin is issued this afternoon, the club's new 2002/03
handbook has arrived at The Valley and is now on sale in the Superstore.
Also available from programme sellers around The Valley tomorrow, the
essential Charlton reference book is bigger and better than ever before.
With more statistics than in Norris McWhirter's library, plus features,
views and background and other useful Addicks information, the 112-page
handbook is a bargain at just £2.50.

Black kit compensation

The club has unveiled plans to offer compensation to fans who bought
last season's now out-of-date black kit.
Full details will appear in tomorrow's Valley Review.

Conservative cancelled due to wedding

The bad news is the Conservative Club will not be open to memebrs of the
supporters' club tomorrow as it has been booked for a wedding.
But the good news is that tomorrow sees the official opening of Floyd's
as a matchday bar for CASC members, following the club's announcement
made earlier in the week.

New signings set to shine

Also returning to action this weekend are Charlton's women's team, who
face Brighton and Hove Albion in their opening fixture of the new
National Division season.
With new England international signings Casey Stoney and Amanda Barr set
to make their debuts for the Addicks, manager Keith Boanas was in a
confident mood before Sunday's game at Hayes Lane, Bromley (2pm).
Read the full match preview at http://www.cafc.co.uk.
One player Charlton will be missing is Fara Williams, who is with
England U19s as they begin their World Championship campaign against USA
tomorrow in Canada.

Javelin jaunt

No doubt in future years, the club's Sparrows Lane training ground will
be full of European champions when the Addicks lift the Champions League
in (insert date).
Yet with such dreams at least nine months away, there was a certain
delight when bona fide European champion Steve Backley wandered through
the door on Wednesday morning for a cup of tea and a sandwich.
The Sidcup-based javelin star had only recently returned from his heroic
gold-medal winning exploits in Germany, but he still found time to come
in and see how his favourite football club was getting on.
Either that, or he may have just wanted to see his masseur, who also
happens to be the Charlton club masseur Mark Zambarda. You decide.

Come back to what you know.......

And so the new season is finally upon us.
The smell of hot dogs at the stadium; the sight of an immaculate Valley
turf; the comforting sounds of an army of fellow supporters making their
way to the same shrine as yourself; the problems of parking around the
ground.
It all adds up to one important thing - the return of the daily email
Bulletin.
Yep, stand by your computers from Monday afternoon as the club's
communications team yet again brings subscribers the latest news, views
and irreverent (and probably irrelevant) gossip straight to your
computer at 4pm every day.
It's good to be back, isn't it?
