Hey guys
Since football boots are becoming more and more hi-tech ... it also bringes a lot of problems with it. You get lighter boots with less protection, you get leather that lasts only half a season ... and the prices are just getting higher and higher.
So I was thinking ... what is YOUR #1 complaint about todays football boots ... and what would you improve if you could?
Allright then ... let's hear the gripes :)

i would say boots not lasting a season they are starting to fall apart very easly. one thing i would hope they do to fix this is use the glue they used to use since that worked better then what they are useing today.

the marketing department. they have convinced us that we can run faster, kick harder, bend it better with the kind of boots we wear.

Just boots being made of silly materials, making them too complex rather than keeping them simple! I've found that all the brand new high-tec boots i buy cost ALOT more dont last as long and are more uncomfortable for example, Nike MV IV these boots look amazing but are uncomfortable just like lotto zhero gravitys, spend £150 for them and the heel digs into your achilles after all that research very ppoor design on the shaping of the heel, the heel is too high and therefor digs in when you move your foot up and down  but yet again look amazing, in my opinion

i have a lot of problems. none of the boots are perfect. mostly because of the duarbility. nike SLs, £190 boots, prob one of the most bootifool ( i just had to say that lol) boots, and once you get studded, the lace cover rips and theyre ruined. you bend them and the so called most durable on the market carbon fibre soleplate breaks. adipures, worn by kaka, worlds best player. they come apart after 18.7 seconds of wear. also, the materials used and like scuff magnets, and you used to be able to remove the scuffs with nail polish remover but now they are put!

my only complaint is when boots are discontinued.
i love my nike supremacies. they fit me well. they're holding up well. i don't actually need to buy new boots right now. i can probably use the two pairs i have for another 3-4 years. the only question is, what then? i probably won't be able to find them at that time.

just buy some now. buy a pair of boots, if you like them a lot, no blisters, durable...then buy a few for the future.

first, durablity....thats an issue cuz u paying 200 bucks for a pair of shoes that last .5-1 season is a rip-off.
second, fit....its really annoying when u see a nice pair of boots but cant wear them cuz ur foot is too wide or too narrow or too fat, i mean id love a pair of MV IV's but they just dont feel right which is really frustrating:mad:

I would say busting quickly. I currently have a pair of Lotto Stadio 90's, and they have done really well, but previously, all my boots have come apart rather quickly. I wrote on the reveiws thread that I just bought a pair of Diadora LX Pros to replace my Lottos, but they broke after two runs. Poor at best.
A thought is that the Lotto boots have their sole stitched on. I have lost a few boots in the past (Nikes) by their sole coming clean off as the glue breaks. Stitching is the go.

My biggest problem is the fit of the boots. Nike it seems like just wants to make their boots wider so more people can buy it. Thats great you want more money but make a wider version of them then. Vapor II's were the greatest fitting boot ive ever had. Predators second. i dont understand why they have to change the sizing of the boot every time they come out with a new one. they need to add to their online sites an area where we can go and give what we think of the boots.

Every single boot is made for normal to wide feet now. Companies get so money hungry they can't stand when they lose a little money from the fat foot people, so they make every shoe wider. They just assum the skinny narrow foot people think its alright that their feet slide everywhere in shoes.
And every shoe is filled with useless crap. Total 90s with a hunk of plastic, Powerserves with rubber everywhere.
I don't mind the syntehtic material stuff, like vapors, since they're still simple and have a good touch.
But Nike is soon to ruin them when they inevietably make then wider.

lol, this is so true :)
anyway, I have a couple of "complaints"
first off: durability, as mentioned, the glue that is used is just not good enough
Since I''ve been using absolutes, it seems to be better, they do last longer.
Copa's were terrible compared to absolutes.
the only shoe that didn't break where the sole comes together with the leather was the F50+ (altough the leather teared at the toe :) )
second, screw-in studs: there is only one system I've used that works: adidas X-TRX, it's brilliant, I've lost only 1 stud and was because the pitch was not soft enough to play with SG's.
I haven't been able to try on f50's
The only pair I had were F50+ , my god that's a brilliant shoe.
But it's not as comfortable as the predators.
So the perfect shoe IMO would be as light as the F50+ with the comfort of a predator.
Another point: Sizes, for me I just fit in a UK 13, so I can use almost every adidas on the market, but if you're a 13.5, your screwed cause there's only copas and Nike tiempo's or something like that.
well, thats about it

totally agree i loved these boots:
-f50+
-t90 III
-t90 laser Is
its lame because i bought my lasers 2 summers ago, and they lasted the entire 365.25 days until they began to go on me. so this summer i try to find another pair and i cant find them, not mention finding my size...so the boot lasts forever, but when forever ends, they're all gone!!!

My #1 complaint is Nike an Adidas (namely Adidas) keep CHANGING things when they are great. Especially with boots, once you find something that fits just perfect, they Change it and come up with some new, stupid design. Take Copas for example, they have been exactly the same since when, the early 80's?! Same, color, same material, same fit. I understand every few years it may seem necessary to try something new, but when they get something right that is obviously popular and sells very well (pred manias!?) why do they not just keep making them and keep it simple!? They have to know, based on sales, when they really get something right for once, so just LEAVE IT ALONE!

Mine would be :
1) The Price
2) Durability
3) Changing designs when they have NO reason to do so
Firstly i think that the price boots have gone too is disgusting. Especially that boots are now being made out of less durable materials. 5 years ago you wouldn't have minded paying for more expensive boots because you knew you'd get a quality product.
I also HATE how boot companies feel that they have to change the design of their boot every season. Does this mean that they have no faith in the durability of their own boots? Possibly. But more than likely they just want the $$$s! I hate hate hate how boot companies now bring out about 9 different versions of the one design. It seems they release a new colourway every month. I think its just a con.

cost and planned obsolescence...both are ridiculous.

Well really, just look at ANY other market, not just the football industry. Planned changes are inevitable, and from a business standpoint it's actually pretty smart.
It's annoying yes, but it's the same with cars, computers, iPods, and anything else that you can find in a store.
Companies like Nike and adidas couldn't give any less if this years model is better than last years. The bottom line is whether or not they cant make a profit, and if they were to have the same models for 5 or so years, they wouldn't make as much.

yes. business school 101. i still don't like it. apple is the best example of this.
