WC2002 Match as Instructional Video?

Any suggestions for a couple WC 2002 matches which could serve as good instructional videos for a Junior High soccer team?

Of course, I'd start with USA-Portugal. I loved that one.

Aside from that, I'll have to think a little bit more to come up with entire matches. One classic piece of soccer that anyone trying to learn the game should study is the Senegal goal where they went the length of the field with one, two, or maybe three touch passing. It was a brilliantly executed counterattack, involving multiple players, no dribbling, and nice run off the ball at the end which opened up space in the middle for the final finish.

If your goal is instructional video, you might think about finding a handful of plays like this one and focusing on them, replaying them a couple of times so they can really pay attention to some of the off the ball stuff, instead of watching entire games.

i think a game like england/argentina would be good, because that game featured a high level of play from both teams, and i think the best way to learn is to watch the best players and teams..

The Senegal goal you're thinking of was their second in the 3-3 tie with Uruguay.

US-Portugal, US-Mexico and Senegal-France would be good ones if you want to show how to absorb pressure and counter-attack. You could also show Ireland-Spain as an example of how not to win a penalty shoot-out. :p

You know, I like the USA - Germany game for a number of points,

first is the different styles of play, so you can see, for example an aerial offensive game vs. a more grounded game

lots of end-to-end action that allows you to talk about help defense (i.e. look at the midfielder running down the middle to meet the offensive player where he is going and help out the defender) and playing angles, especially as a secondary defender. Also, Tony Sanneh on the overlapping runs

Attacking with lateral movement, a la Landon Donovan

Lot's of nice ball skills and ball movement on display in that game.

Just a classy game all around, and the kids can learn something about keeping your cool and showing class - from both sides

I think the Italy vs. South Korea game would be a good one to show. Lots of good play from both teams.
