I do see some favorable match-ups for the lower division teams, but #1FCK is not one of them. Very tuff match-up. I do like 1860, Koblenz, Trier chances. BTW Footie fan, you forgot to type BayScum :P

Given the history between the two clubs; this should be very interesting. I hope to see a very positive, fast paced match. I think there will be some surprises and twists in this one.

I don't expect you guys to come through it, but I know you have a chance.

Oh wow! I'll make sure I watch out for a "King Otto" sighting!
But wait. I can see him anytime Greece plays... LOL!! ;) :D

Exactly my point. You don't see him in Deutshland anymore. He is a bit like Daum. They don't want to go back, because they have anger issues on the way they were treated. Daum can't really complain, but Otto does have a chip on his shoulder & rightfully so. Maybe the two clubs can come together & help smooth it out. Then again, I guess Otto has a place w/ the Greek Myths now ;)

It would be nice to win at der Alten Försterei. Anyone ever been there? I haven't seen Union Berlin and I don't know much about them.

I haven't been there since they renovated it. I did get to go to the old place once.
It is one of those places where you can feel the passion and tradition even when the place is empty.

It is one of those places where you can feel the passion and tradition even when the place is empty. Yeah, thanks for that Keith. It sure looks like a warm, old stadium. I hope they don't change that feeling once they are through with the renovations. The traveling support has been very loud in Berlin. Surprise! At the half it is 0-1 for Kaiserslautern, and you could tell because once the goal went the crowd started chanting "IMA DICK, IMA DICK". :D
Anyone know about Union's support? I hear they are like St. Pauli and the Nulldrei in Potsdam.

Here is some info about Union Berlin (http://www.abseits-soccer.com/clubs/unionbe.html). It's well documented about the loyal fans. Here is a lil' tidbit about these fans (http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,4243189,00.html).

Congrats on another impressive win! 30 points out of 13 games ... that's the 2nd best score after Mainz a few years ago.

What a wonderful story; I now have massive respect for Union Berlin. In fact I saw this article today: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2009/nov/22/bundesliga-premier-league-club-ownership
I really love how the Bundesliga is run and Germany is very lucky to have the league that it does.

Thank you, sir! I think we'll find out a bit more about this season's 1FCK next week. It could be that promotion is in the cards this season but a quick look at:
http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/verein/2/1-fc-kaiserslautern/uebersicht/startseite.html
tells me that most of the top players for the club are on loan so I'm not sure how this will be solved at the next level. Any ideas?

I think Sam will almost certainly join, even if other clubs come with better offers.
But as far as the others, I don't know.
This is a question I put to the FCK e-mail list at Yahoogroups months ago, but it doesn't seem to be something any of them want to think about at the moment.
Guess I can't blame them........

Lautern has buying options on Rodnei and Pavlovic. There is also an option to buy Ilicevic (only in case of promotion).
No such options for Sam and Mandjeck. Sam`s contract with Hamburg expires at the end of this season. If FCK makes it into the Bundesliga there is a chance to keep Sam as well.

That is good news; I hope we have the finances to keep some key players and add a few. If we do make the Bundesliga this season this could be the making of a formidable but rather thin squad. Shame about Mandjeck; I would love for him to be kept on if it goes that far.
