View Full Version : I only bought Rio as cover for Woodgate anyway!

I've got a lot of time for Ridsdale, but this is ridiculous (http://www.soccernet.com/england/news/2002/0816/20020816lufcrioridsdale.html). He claims he only spent the £18m it cost him to get Ferdinand to Elland Road as cover for Woodgate, in the eventuality that he was sent down for the attack on the Asian lad.

My arse ...

What's the point?

For one of the more honest of the current people in charge at that level i honestly can't see why he even bothered to take the time to comment like that.

It's obviously utter bollox as the mentioning of record signing and cover in the same sentence seems quite silly and smacks of hurt feelings of being snubed for ( a supposed) better chance to win medals.

Leeds came out of it quite well financially and morally as only Rio and Manure look to have done something behind everyones back.

I wouldn't lump Ridsdale in with Bates or Ellis. I am however surprised he's come up with this blatant load of tosh.
My mother, as head of the largest Sixth form in Leeds has for some reason has had many dealings with LUFC. I can't give you the ins and outs, because I really don't know but he definitely comes across as one of the (how shall we say), 'better' and more socially responsible of head honchos.
Still it goes to show that none of us are perfect.
