I love Özil, too, and of course I want us to win this. But the defensive problems have to be addressed. It's just insane to give away a 3 goals lead at home.

What is this they are saying in German, "platte"? What does that mean? Platter or something?

I meant to say what does "platte" mean? He says " the cross comes from the corner and it's platte" or something like that.

i understand you completely about our defensive problems because it's a major issue that really does need to be addressed completely. but right at this moment, i really just want to see us win this no matter how bad the defense is. we can bash our defense afterward.
these last few minutes are so nerve racking...

Werder - Hoffenheim 5-4 FT
Of course I m happy that we won, of course I'm very glad to see how Özil continues to perform so exceptionally well, and score the important goals (first and last today), but the way we gave away the clear lead today, the amateurish defending that almost cost us the win and made all the great attacking display worthless, is inexcusable, and has to be addressed ASAP.
Otherwise we will simply get slaughtered in the CL.

It was a home game, see I can't hear the crowd the radio is so quiet. It is early morning where I live and everyone else is still in bed. What an unlikey win...I don't like this defence either. Milan is going to choke us to death next week and we can't play counter attack against them. Or can we? A top class full back or replacement for aging Frings and Baumann are in order IMO.

definitely agree. the defense is such a joke. i don't even want to think about what will happen against a team like inter

Did I not state this at the beginning of the season (bar Frings)? ;)

Couldn't watch the game. I never thought I'd have a heart attack reading about it on the board. Probably a good thing I couln't watch it, my blood pressure would have killed me!
So after last year we still can't clue out the need to shore up the defense?!?! WTF? Somebody needs to slap Schaaf upside his head!!
Herr hackespitze123 koennen Sie das tun?!?!
Oezil is amazing. Love that kid!!!

Crazy game. It's a miracle that I survived this game without a heart attack.

Probably a classic match already, a match people will remember in years to come, perfect advertising for the league. But the perfect example for everything that is wrong with Werder, and wrong with the league, at the same time also.
Being a Werder fan means heart attacks in every freaking match. :D

Damn, I wish I had seen this game instead of the "Grottenspiel" at AOL-Arena...
Crazy Werder!;) Congrats on another exciting win! :)

The last two Bremen league games pefercly indicate Bremen's tactical philosophy is "score more than the opponent".:p:p

Annoying defensive problems aside, this was a so called "big point" today, especially since Bayern, Schalke and Stuttgart all lost, and Hoffenheim was 2nd in the league prior to this matchday. Would have been a perfect matchday again if Hamburg hadn't won.
Winning with one man less on the pitch, after giving up a clear lead, shows that this team has heart and fighting spirit also, not just flamboyant attacking flair. This is a rare quality that we will hopefully preserve this season, then we could go all the way.

Yes I would love to see bremen or leverkusen win it all if it isn't Dortmund.
It's funny because when I was starting to follow dortmund in the early 90s those are the two teams I hated most because we'd lose to them more often than not despite being one of the best and eventually the best team in the league.
