So now Ashton's out, and Cole (recovering from his hangover), and Bellamy (as usual) are doubtful; aren't we lucky to have Boa Morte ready to pick up the slack!!!!!
Zola says he enjoys challenges; what with the injuries, and the lawsuits etc, he must be in seventh heaven!

Sicknote Ashton. He's shown himself to be another fragile player like many before him. It's not big injuries with him it's constant niggling injuries and given his physique I don't think that is going to change. Shame as he can be a really good player on his day but he appears to be another who's career will go nowhere significant as he cannot manage a sustained run of games.
In totality his contribution to WHU has been limited.
As much as it pains me to say, it's probably best we unload him at season's end while he might still have some real value.

More opportunity for the Italian Di Michele.

Yes, West Ham said today he'll be on crutches for 6 weeks, and probably out till the New Year. What a bloody shame; He has really been unlucky with these injuries, and the team will miss him plenty.

Its actually time to sue SWP and Chelsea for causing the original injury that Deano hasn't fully recovered from.

Of course should throw England in as it was McClarens fault for taking training.

Now read that it is likely to be March 2009 before he comes back. WHU must use some great surgeons if this injury is a flare up of the earlier one!
Seriously I think we need to consider whether Ashton is worth keeping. A guy his size with dodgy ankles is going to be a liability long term.
Surprisingly Cole seems to filling in the role anyway with Zola's system of 3 up front. If he stays fit (which he seems to do) having Di Michele, Ethers, Bellamy, Sears around him seems to suit and he is certainly getting better.
I know some people would think us mad to get rid of Ashton because they feel he may get fit and be a champion elsewhere but we've had him for 3 years and signed him to a new long term contract and at this stage, he's not worth it.

Talk of getting rid of him is all academic until he gets fit and then who knows?

Sears got 4 goals in a 4-3 reserves win over West Brom, he might get a chance now, hard to ignore that.

I knew we should have taken 10m and run in the summer.
