Yankhibee, can you sticky this please?
So, last season Scotland's premier/flagship cup competition had no sponsorship after Tennent's ended a 17yr tie-in with the competition.
and it's looking likely that it'll be sponsorless again this season for two years running. surely after and indeed during last season, finding a sponsor should have been his number one objective for the new season.
Chief executive Duffield and President Peat are a joke... and a bad one at that.
anyway, the second round draw will take place on Saturday 27th September.
The Second Round Draw will include:
The 18 First Round winners
The top 2 in the Highland League: Cove Rangers & Keith
Winner of the East of Scotland League: Whitehill Welfare
Winner of the South of Scotland League: Crichton FC
10 clubs in the Scottish Football League Division 3:
Annan Athletic, Albion Rovers, Berwick Rangers; Cowdenbeath; Dumbarton,
East Stirlingshire, Elgin City, Forfar Athletic, Montrose, Stenhousemuir
The Scottish Cup Second Round will take place on Saturday 25 October 2008.

Good luck to the little clubs, they're what makes the Cup fun. Some of those clubs sound as if they're from only slightly glorified Sunday leagues.

It is amazing to me that there is no sponsor...what's the deal with this?

i wonder if that American consortium got any further in taking over Fort William. they were going to go the route of fans making decisions and make a weekly documentary out of it for American TV.
Pollok and Spartans have to do it all over again.

Wow, Cowdenbeath vs Elgin City has 'game of the round' written all over it!
Seriously though, a few interesting ties and a few good chances for non-league teams to beat league teams. I wonder if Annan vs Spartans could be a bit of a grudge match after all the bitching Spartans did over getting into the league.

Ja, just one more Saturday afternoon watching Premiership in a Swedish pub, paying 5 pounds a pint and getting text updates from Bayview.:)

there is a Castle Fraser just west of Aberdeen but the Lovat Fraser's castle is just outside a town called Beauly near Dingwall.
Beaufort Castle

my mother was originally from there. unfortunately it is privately owned by Ann Gloag who owns the bus company, Stagecoach.

3rd round draw
Stirling Albion V Partick
Forfar V Stranraer
Lochee United V Ayr
Keith/Forres Mechanics V Dalbeattie Star
Inverurie V Civil Service Strollers/Vale Of Leithen
Elgin V Annan/Spartans
Albion Rovers V Queens Park
Wick Academy/Edinburgh City V Brechin City
East Stirling V Livingston
East Fife V Arbroath
Peterhead V Morton
Clyde V Montrose
Airdrie V Cove Rangers
Raith V Alloa
Clachnacudan V Stenhousemuir
Ross County V Dumbarton
It's a pretty boring one for us. Although if the tie is anything like our game against Arbroath at the weekend (going down to 9 men with 40 minutes left, at 2-2 and winning 3-2), I'll be happy.:)
There's guarenteed to be two non-league sides in the 4th round - Inverurie Locos must fancy their chances. We played them last year and they're a decent team, should be able to see off an EoS side.
As for upsests, I'm sure Spartans will think they can take out two league teams in Annan and Elgin although I'm not too sure anybody will see that as a surprise.
Clach might have a decent chance against Stenhousemuir, although they are top of the 3rd right now and going quite well.
Peterhead might have a decent chance of taking a 1st division 'scalp' against Morton too.

i'd love to see Cove Rangers advance at the expense of Airdrie.
