View Full Version : Does anyone anywhere rate Boa Morte at all ?

He's been abysmal since he came to West Ham - I can remember one game where he really played well - the last match of last season playing to stay at the club !

The sitter he missed at Newcastle is the last straw - he didn't have a good game in the Carling Cup game we _LOST_ to Watford either.

BOA MORTE OUT >:O

(and take your quashie with you)

I am going to add some spark to this thread and say that I think he is a good player. I remember seeing him at Fulham and thinking he was a class act, although I except the argument that it doesn't take much to stand out in the Fulham team. ;) I find it hard to believe that a player can turn crap overnight.

I think he will come good. Right now he is battling away in front of one of the most condemning crowds in the EPL but he never gives up. He just can't seem to get the rub of the green at the moment and some of his misses seem as much bad luck as any lack of quality.

We can't fault him for effort and I for one would rather see a player try and fail than not try at all. If we look back to when Tevez first arrived, he couldn't do a thing right but he never lacked effort and determination. Granted he is a better player than Boa but I believe it's a similar thing. I believe that if he keeps working hard and he is played in a way that suits him he will hit some form and we will see a better player.

He isn't bad at all. He had a good game, last time out. (I never saw the Watford game) He also played well in the last 4 or 5 games last season.
I think that re arranging the following words might help. Bandwagon the on jumping.

We were the same with Repka, Dailly and even Linda. It's a West Ham thing.

I think we all want to be fair to any player, but the fact is that Boa Morte's best days seem to be long gone.
The last good season he had as a striker was with Fulham 6 or 7 years ago. He scored 4 goals in 40 games for Arsenal years ago, but only 1 in 33 games for us. His goal tally for Fulham (not in the Premiership) was impressive (54 in 250 league and cup games), but he's lost that ability for several seasons.
He's now 31 years-old, and should move to a Championship team. By the way, he cost us 5 million pounds!

come on.. he was great when he was at Fulham and I was happy when we signed him. he's just been rubbish in a claret and blue shirt. i'd rather see Kyle Reid play, he was brilliant in Columbus in pre-season. and of course Mattie should be first choice on the left if he's fit.. or even Behrami. Boa Morte has to be the 4th choice left sided player now.

You can't possibly compare him to Linda or Repka or Dailly - I've seen all of those have fantastic games for West Ham - i've seen Boa Morte have one 'reasonably good' outing and the rest were terrible.

Repka and Dailly were both terrible when they where played out of position at center back and their dodgy defending played a big role in getting us relegated. Repka only came good after he was switched to RB 100%.

Well said that man. Boa is a workhorse, he had glandular fever shortly after joining us. I would love to see him get his Fulham form back, hopefully it will happen. His confidence isn't helped by the idiots that boo.
To say Etherington is a class above is rubbish. On his day Matty is great but if he gets hit early with a crunching tackle, he drifts right out the game. Matty probably shows his real ability 4-5 times a season.

Bat. I agree about the Repka, Dailly bit, but the last few games of last year LBM played well. Not that the fans thought so, but Sky and others rated him with high scores.
The West Ham crowd get at certain players and I've seen it happen over the years. My earliest memory was them always having a go at Musgrove back in the 50's.
Noble sometimes is terrible, but he is a West Ham boy and quickly forgiven. I don't think that LBM is any worse that some of our other players and he certainly gets involved more than Etherington, who seems to wander off down to Ladbrokes. Reid , I am sorry to say, will never make it.

LBM's problem has always been inconsistency, unfortunately for the Hammers, this problem has been corrected, he is now consistently bad. While he is still a good player, a change of clubs would do him the world of good, he just hasn't fitted in at the Hammers.

I thought he was mustard at Fulham, but (and I dont know why) he just aint cut it at West Ham.
