Elijah Wood is moving from hobbits to hooligans. LORD OF THE RINGS star Elijah Wood will star in the upcoming independent film HOOLIGANS for Odd Lot Entertainment. Wood plays a student who gets kicked out of prestigious Harvard undergrad who gets undeservedly kicked out of school. He decided to move to London where he meets up with a British fella who introduces him to the harsh, violent sub-culture of soccer hooliganism: getting into fights with the fans of the other team, inciting a riot, the usual stuff.

Charlie Hunnam (he'll be seen in the upcoming COLD MOUNTAIN with Jude Law and Nicole Kidman) will play Pete, Elijah's hooligan buddy. Filming starts in April 2004.

It might make an interesting movie. It may even have the opposite effect of what you seem concerned about.

Hopefully, if the movie is well done, someone with a brain will be able to figure out that the sport of soccer has nothing to do with hooliganism. Somehow I feel like if baseball was England's passion, that you'd find the same hooliganism surrounding that sport as well.
