So speculation, but not unreasonable. I don't think Newcastle will be the place for him, but on the other hand maybe we're not quite there yet to tempt him, especially if Barcelona have tapped him up. I suppose it depends on the ability of Levy to persuade him.

I like this guy. Could be worth waiting until the end of the season for him. Give Pleat + Hughton the rest of the season or until Porto finish playing in the Champions League.

I like Sir Bobby quite a bit, so a Robson disciple is intriguing. The history and everything sounds right, but frankly, I think he needs good English to be able to handle the media circus that is being Spurs manager. Plus, players who have already tuned out one manager (Hoddle) and have been brought back by a more traditional manager (Pleat, although it seems a bit odd to say that), may be quick to tune out Mourinho. So, if he were to be appointed manager, he'd have to start quickly and not sustain any long dips in form for at least a year. That seems like a very tight row to hoe.

Obviously, Postiga would jump for joy if we brought Mourinho in though. I dunno, I'm not convinced that he's the right man for the job just yet ... but I'm open minded and ready to be convinced. Let's see how it plays out.

Well, if we do get Mourinho, what is the likelyhood that it will make getting Diego easier?

Well Mourinho reckons he was approached, and the media reckon O'Neill recommended him to us:

But Pleat pours cold water on it:

No, please take Souness, he'd be good for a few years. We'll also be willing to swap Amoruso, Yorke and Martin Taylor for Carr and Richards. No ?? OK, how about a multi-pack of Tesco crisps for the afore mentioned Blackburn players ?.

It's all going pear shaped for Souness this season. Blackburn will get better over the next few months, but it's evident that Souey still has flaws as a manager.

I'm really glad he wasn't keen and your board didn't want to let him go. I've got a strong feeling that he was a very serious candidate. As it is I'd sooner have Curbishley out of the two without a doubt, though who knows, if Blackburn don't start winning maybe your lot will make a move for him.

I'm not sure. Souness and Williams (the guy who runs Blackburn day-to-day) seem to get on very well, so it would have to take something massive to get rid of Souness. Even then, I doubt Curbishley will join Blackburn. I think he'd want to go to a more famous club like Liverpool or Spurs, which is a shame from my point of view, because he gets teams to play good football and brings on youngsters.

Souness was the right man for the job when we got him, but as time goes on, it looks like we need someone else to take us that bit further and establish Blackburn as contenders for a European place every season.
