since now it's Roma's De Rossi for sure, trap will call him from the u-21 very likely....he's the kind of player italy missed

De Rossi's time will come, but I'm not sure it's just yet. As midfield was a weak point in Korea/Japan, Trap has de-emphasized the midfield since the disaster in Cardiff. Or emphasized the offense, however you like it.

For a while, they were playing a 4-2-3-1 with two holding midfielders and three attacking midfielders behind one big striker. The key to that formation is having both Del Piero and Totti available as two of those three attacking "midfielders", which they haven't been for the last few games. The third spot rotates - Fiore has played there as well as Camaronesi, even Del Vecchio!

The first-choice holding midfielders are currently Chievo's Perrotta and Inter's Cristiano Zanetti with the likes of Tacchinardi and Gattuso not far behind.

The main creative midfielder is Totti. He's really the key guy although they managed to beat Wales without him in there. In that case, they played a pretty standard 4-4-2. Against Azerbaijan, with Totti available but Del Piero absent, they played a 4-3-1-2. Left back Zambrotta was the main attacking option down the left flank in that setup.

I watched Roma-Parma today... sure he lacks experience but De Rossi promises to be exactly what Italy needs.

2 goals, 2 fantastic assists by De Rossi.

I won't be surprised if Trap will give him a chance, of course if he goes on playing at this level.

Bergomi was 18 when he won the world championship in Spain.

p.s. Di Vaio is not a midfielder, he's an attacker.

Since Super Pippo has scored 6 goals for Italy in there last 3 games, I doubt the Trap will him leave off the field any time soon.

I see The Trap sticking to a 4-3-2-1 set up for a while.

Oddo/Puncci--Cannavaro--Nesta--Zambrotta
Camoranesi-------Perrotta-----Zanetti------

Last time Prilo and Gattuso played together, Italy lost 2-1 to Wales.

I don't see Prilo being picked by The Trap any time soon, he has not been impressing with the NT.

Also, there is a better chance of De Rossi making the team than him.

Gattuso and Fiore will come of the bench as long as The Trap is incharge.
