Any one listening to ESPN Deportes radio (Jorge Ramos y Su Banda). There talk of MFL team not going to Copa Sudamericana due to conflicts and advertisement $$$ with the Concacaf Champions league next year. Comnebol and Concacaf are meeting next tuesday. To discuss this and possibly realign the tourneys. Make the CCL and Copa Sud-Americana independent with no teams from other regions. While making libertadores a Pan American style championship.
Let the MFL should leave concacrap comment begin.:rolleyes:Serious analysis please not the garbage posts of Mexican League superiorty we all know this already. or else this topic turns to crap too.

This could be somewhat conflictive, because how would the south americans qualify to the Club World Cup, through the Libertadores? The CONCACAF could aswell force them to not take part.

Then again they could revive the Interamerican Cup, with a new format, say like the 2 finalists of each one the Libertadores and the Champions League.

Tsk, demand? May as well kick them out for once. Hopefully CONMEBOL gets the wake up signal.

This kind of posts are always amusing. Football is a business, Leoz and company are not as stupid as some fans, they know that Mexican teams bring good competition an a lot of $$$$. It would be a huge blow to CONMEBOL if Mexico (national team and clubs) stopped participating in its tournaments.

So the European, South American, Asian, and African Champions' Leagues were started for pure reasons, but the CONCACAF one is just to make money for Jack Warner?

Isn't that how they qualify now?

We all know Léoz and company will not lift a finger. CONMEBOL is just as bad, administratively speaking, as CONCACAF. The only difference is CONMEBOL has decent football.

without Mexico the Concacaf would be shit.
they can try but Conmebol and the sponsors won't let it happen.

If that's the case may as well have more mexican clubs and the cups played in United States.
After all Leoz cares for the money, they could be the Philippines but as soon they bring money. It could be a blow to Leoz's pockets if they didn't take part, but not the death of anyone, like the Chivas' vice-president wants us to think.
I wonder if FIFA will pay attention to that said meeting.

Wow, quite the arrogant statement don't you think? I suspect that if I made this statement concerning life in a certain country vis-a-vis the US, I would be unleashed on with the heat of a thousand suns. Concacaf/Conmebol/FIFA all have a right to protect the order of the game. The MFL is not exempt.

Concacaf is pissed because they don't get any money
why should they?
it's a conmebol tournament
our Futbol Federation pays to have our teams participate.

Actually, I kind of like this idea.
Imagine a Liberdatores with:
1 defending champion
1 team from each CONMEBOL federation (10 total)
1 team from each North American federation (3 total)
1 team from each Central American federation (7 total)
3 teams from the CFU (or 2 CFU and 1 extra from the host federation)
Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but I like that kind of everyone-gets-one-shot system. Of course, you still have to have everyone play the CCL or Sudamerica also, for Club World Cup qualifying (unless you can work something out with FIFA so that two teams could qualify out of the Liberdatores...)

It wouldn't be as competitive.

Apparently Justino Compean had a meeting with Sepp Blater, and received assurances that CONCAMEX would not interfere with our participation in CONMEBOL tournies, Banco Santander made it clear when they agree to sponsor Copa Libertadores that FMF clubs should be included, since Mexican teams bring in the States up to 10 million Dlls. in TV revenue PER GAME in some Libertadores and Sudamericana matches.
Obviously Warner and Blazer want some slice of this pie, the problem for FMF teams is that in the CONCACRAP champions cup, the mexican teams dont earn a cent of the TV rights or static adds in the "stadiums" -if you can call some of the parks they have in the caribean stadiums- hence the reluctance to participate in the CONCACAF Mickey Mouse cup

I find Mexican Clubs participating in South American tournaments very interesting for the following reasons:
In the Australian A-League, Wellington Phoenix from New Zealand and Oceania, are barred from playing in the O-League (Oceania Champions League) because the argument is that they belong to an Asian League - despite the fact that New Zealand still belongs to Oceania.
Now the Phoenix are also ineligible to represent the A-League in Asia because as mentioned, they are from an OFC member nation. The-AFC are running the argument that it is against FIFA Regulations for a team from another confederation to participate in an Asian tournament.
So I pose the question, how have Mexican clubs (CONCACAF) been allowed by FIFA to play in a South American tournament, if their New Zealand counterparts cannot participate in Asian tournaments?
