View Full Version : Películas y Televisión
Post anything pertaining to Movies and Television here.
I'll start...
Movies I want to see but haven't got around to it yet:
Todo el Poder (2003)
Pantaleon y las visitadoras (2002)
La Ley de Herodes (2003) (Supposedly coming to the states this year. I saw it in Mexico and really enjoyed it.)
Any recommendations?
TV shows I like:
I used to enjoy watching the CBS show "Amazing Race". Arrogant Americans racing around the world, upset to find out that not all people speak English.
Recently I viewed a few episode of "La Cenicienta" on Telemundo. I couldn't take it for more than a couple of episodes. The show should actually be called "La Ceniputa". They are trying to pass off a twice married single mother (at the age of 23) as a princess. Her family was so picky as if she was a virgin, it made me sick.
I am not sure if I should tell you all this, but I am currently viewing my first ever telenovela in its entirety. "Amor Descarado" on Telemundo, it has a good/funny plot and some hot looking women on it. I remember watching a few episodes of some telenovela (can't remember the name) which had middle eastern women living in Brazil. Hot Hot Hot!

Movie:
"Solo con tu pareja"... This one is from the 90's so I'm not sure it is around in the normal video stores.. but it is hilarious....

El Clon. My mom loved that novela and I had to tape it everytime she couldn´t see it. It cost me almost all my tapes and I missed taping some MFL games because of that.

I liked Cronos. Saw it on the Sci Fi channel a few years ago.
On the subject of horror movies, I really like those old black and white horror/western movies from Mexico with Gaston Santos. 'La Venganza del Ahorcado', 'El Jinete Sin Cabeza', etc. Great stuff to just sit back and enjoy. Wish more of that type of stuff were restored and released on DVD.

Finally saw Cronos it was good but you could tell it was his first movie. I must admait that I liked El Espinazo del Diablo much more as Guillermo del Toro has grown as a director and a writer.

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro's rich and atmospheric spin on the ghost story set during the Spanish Civil war in an orphanage incorporating vengeance, skeletons in the closet (literally and figuratively) and good old fashioned greed comes to fruition in a patiently well-told solid piece of unsettling Gothic horror storytelling the likes of O. Henry meets Rod Serling.

I saw that movie at Century. It was a while ago so I really don't recall any of the details of the movie. I think I thought it was okay. Usually if I can't remember the details it's good indicator of how good it ain't.
