Paul Dempsey/Pat Dolan (Setanta)

We often dwell on the negative here, annoying commentators, mispronounced player names, lack of tv coverage of certain matches but I just wanted to take a minute to give a shout out to Paul Dempsey and Pat Dolan on Setanta. They are the studio guys and I swear I could listen to these guys analyze a local pee wee league match and it'd stir interest. Their interactions are classic. Anyone else a big fan of these guys?

I saw Paul back with Pat yesterday. I think Paul does boxing for Setanta also and with a couple of big fights for UK boxers over here, I think he did them and came back this weekend because the Hatton fight was on Sky.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm so glad he's back. I can literally watch those two just shoot the shit about football all day. I actually have my eyes peeled for Weds here in the US, according to the setanta site the pregame for Liverpool-Marseille match starts at 1pm Eastern. The game doesn't kick off until 2:45. Could it be a 1hr45 min pregame with Paul/Pat and Andy Townsend? One can only hope.

It says that on my program guide on my DirecTV too. The listing says UEFA Champions League Build-Up, so I'm guessing a long pregame show. Andy is good, but today they had Avram Grant on with Paul and Pat. So, who knows?

Avram Grant is just a terrible TV personality. He clearly knows what he is talking about, which is a plus, and is very knowledgeable. But he still has that face that drove people crazy as a manager, and it's even worse on TV. Add to that his English is far from perfect, which means he pauses a lot and says "ummmmmmmm" way to much. This isn't to rip on his English, but a TV personality needs to be able to express himself fluidly. I appreciate Setanta's efforts but would prefer they find someone else.

Yeah, I thought it was really weird to see Grant sitting there as they came on the air here in the US. I also was cracking up when Grant was listing some of the things that Arsenal should be looking for in the Jan. window and Pat must have whispered "goalkeeper", Grant says goalkeeper and Pat is shown laughing. CLASSIC!!!!!!

Just watching the Liverpool-L'OM match now on my dvr. Looks like Sky Sports coverage which is a bummer because not Paul and Pat. Buuuut. If I hear Andy Gray covering the game I'll be happy about that.
