For the Honduras game in 2001, we had Operation Streamer going, where people brought streamers to throw at the conclusion of the national anthem. In addition, we bought lots of streamers to hand out to US fans as they entered the park. How about we do this again for the US-Cuba game? Here's a picture from that game:

Cool. If everyone who reads this goes out and buys $30 worth of streamers and then distributes them to people people before they enter the stadium, we'll have a ton of streamers thrown at the end of the national anthem. This is the kind of thing that the whole stadium will enjoy and that adds to the overall experience of attending the game.
I'd really like to have more coming down from the second tier.

Would throwing all these streamers down on the field delay the start of the match? Or do both teams warmup a few minutes more then start?

As you can see from the picture, they most likely won't make it to the field. And, if we throw at the conclusion of the national anthem, any that make it on the field can be cleaned up while the players are getting positioned. Also, with the business of having little kids stand with each player, it takes some time to get the kids off the field, too.

Is the second tier even going to be open for this match? I assumed the crowd would be relatively small compared to the 2001 game.

The bottom bowl only seats around 22,000, so yeah. I'm guessing attendance will be somewhere between 40K-50K (It's a Saturday night game plus long weekend)

Sorry for being off-topic, but we're going to the game and want to make a sign. Anybody know how to translate "If you score, you can't stay" into Spanish?

If anything, your sign ought to ask, "How about not wasting our time and just defect like you Cubans normally do when playing in the US?"

I'm pretty sure we're playing Cuba, not Montreal. Although one could argue that Cuba is better than Canada. :)

is this operation a go? I know us in LA NORTE have 100 streamers ready for this match. Also does anyone know if there will be a group march in for this game? We did it a couple of times for a UNITED match, it would be nice to march around the stadium before the game. Even if we are sitting in diffrent sections.

If the US-cuba match had an environment exactly like this you can also expect ESPN later not show any highlights of the game, the same way they diden't show anything about the US-Argentina game later in that night which had 80,000 crazy nut soccer fans because it will show that there are people who care about American soccer in America and it might cuase a massive trend.

Let's get back on that horse and go for a ride! I need to go buy some streamers.
