This is awesome. Another channel to watch YA (without paying a premium, hopefully). Imagine you can watch the EPL Saturday mornings on ESPN/ESPN2. If this is TRUE, it's probably the greatest soccer tv news I've ever heard.

Would be great for more exposure, but you could count on them playing one match a week and that match would include one of the following teams, ManU, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal. FSC normally plays four or five matches per week. Would FSC lose the right to air those other matches? That could be the demise of the channel. If that happened we would lose some MLS matches, CCL matches, USL matches, Serie A, Argentina league, World Cup qualifers from around the world. As a FSC subsciber I would not get too excited about this. I stand to lose more than to gain, unless ESPN comes out with a soccer channel.

From what I've heard, most will be on ESPN Classis, which they are basically trying to turn into ESPN 3. They are gonna buy the rights out after FSC and Setanta run out, I believe in 2010, or 2011. So, they will not air those games anymore, unless somehow they do joint.

ESPN had it back in the '90's, at least the rights in the US. They'd showed the Monday game on delay at like 6 or 7 o'clock. I think it lasted like a year.

I like Setanta.
Would ESPN even have the wherewithall to do something like "I'm on Setanta Sports"?
And the last thing I want is John Harkes or Eric Wynalda or Marcelo Balboa ruining the game with comments about what they think is soccer.... as if they know.

If they do it in HD and use the British announcers, fine. If not, then I'd rather it stay on FSC and Setanta.

Just so I can watch BS's servers implode, I hope they get Mike Patrick and Stephen A. Smith to call games.
See, at least I can name two people I like, you guys just call them "the British announcers."

If that means I don't have to subscribe to Setanta, cool. And as long as I get to hear the English commentators (Andy Gray, Martin Tyler for example) I'll be happy.
