Pink Floyd member Richard Wright dies age 65 (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/eu_britain_pink_floyd)
LONDON - Richard Wright, a founding member of the rock group Pink Floyd, died Monday. He was 65.
Pink Floyd's spokesman Doug Wright, who is not related to the artist, said Wright died after a battle with cancer at his home in Britain. He says the band member's family did not want to give more details about his death.
Wright met Pink Floyd members Roger Waters and Nick Mason in college and joined their early band, Sigma 6. Along with the late Syd Barrett, the four formed Pink Floyd in 1965.
The group's jazz-infused rock and drug-laced multimedia "happenings" made them darlings of the London psychedelic scene, and their 1967 album, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," was a hit.
Shine on, man. I think I'll throw some Floyd on tonight when I get home.

Floyd founder Wright dies at 65
Pink Floyd keyboard player and founder member Richard Wright has died aged 65 from cancer.
Wright appeared on the group's first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, in 1967 alongside lead guitarist Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and Nick Mason.
Dave Gilmour joined the band at the start of 1968 while Barrett left the group shortly afterwards.
Gilmour said: "He was such a lovely, gentle, genuine man and will be missed terribly by so many who loved him."
Writing on his website, he added: "And that's a lot of people. Did he not get the loudest, longest round of applause at the end of every show in 2006?" Wright's spokesman said in a statement: "The family of Richard Wright, founder member of Pink Floyd, announce with great sadness that Richard died today after a short struggle with cancer. "The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."

Dam. I got through high school listening to them. I will forever be bummed that I couldn't get down to LA to see the The Wall concert.

This is a very sad day indeed. Shit, this sucks. At least, I am glad I got to see him a happy man at the Live 8 reunion. Rest in peace Rick

Very sad news indeed. Amazing musician and human being.
For those of you who have never listened to his solo work, you must pick up a copy of Broken China, quality stuff all around.

While some Floyd purists will say Division Bell isn't anything close to what Floyd stood for, I've always loved the song - turning the inside out.
Shine on you crazy diamond

This was somewhat sudden and unexpected to me. Syd's death was somewhat expected as his health had been known to be getting worse at the time, but I had no idea that Richard was dying from cancer.
I was fortunate enough to see Floyd (with Richard) live in 1994 and of course watched the live reunion a few years ago.
Shine on Richard. I'll certainly have to spin some Floyd over the next few days.

RIP Richard Wright. There is no dark side of the moon as a matter of fact it's all dark.
Saw Richard Wright with Pink Floyd three times (New Bingley Hall, England, Foxboro, MA and Oakland, CA) and each concert was memorable in its own way. RIP Richard... shine on you (not so) crazy diamond.
