GuateFC im glad the players from the 23 are coming in, with Pappa u saw the speed he brought in, and with loco on the other side, they had Cuba locos. With Contreras coming in, he brought a different type of style, touch give me pass, and Gallardo another youngster from the 23n under playing really good. Freddy Garcia i think we should give him time, he'll come around i hope. I think with the new calling of Avila and Norton should make Guate even more faster.

Well yesterday el Primi met with Oscar Arroyo and some other people from la federacion and this is what it said.

La tarde de este jueves, Ramón Enrique Maradiaga, director técnico de la Selección Mayor de Guatemala, se reunirá junto al resto de su cuerpo técnico con los altos mandos de la federación guatemalteca de fútbol; esta reunión tendrá como fin confirmar un encuentro amistoso y una serie de nuevas convocatorias para el conjunto bicolor.

Según la investigación de Red Deportiva, Guatemala podría enfrentar en el estadio Nacional Mateo Flores, previo al juego ante Trinidad y Tobago del próximo 11 de octubre, a la Selección de Guyana. El compromiso se realizaría en la capital guatemalteca en una fecha aún por confirmarse.

Además del amistoso ante Guyana, también podría confirmarse la convocatoria de dos nuevos futbolistas. El regreso de Marvin Ávila a Selección esta muy cerca de darse, además de la convocatoria de un nuevo volante de llegada por izquierda (Gregory Lester Ruiz).

También se confirmó hoy que el Preparador Físico hará un trabajo especial con Marco Pablo Pappa, en Chicago, y Carlos Humberto Ruiz, en Toronto, el cual servirá para tenerlos a plenitud en los dos partidos antes los caribeños, en los que Guatemala buscará la clasificación a la fase final de la eliminatoria mundialista.

El técnico de la selección de Guatemala, Ramón Maradiaga, accedió ayer a conversar con Prensa Libre. Aunque se muestra muy positivo, reconoce que para pensar en cosas grandes hay que vencer a Trinidad y Cuba en los próximos partidos. Primi admite que se equivocó al alinear a Thompson contra los isleños.
¿Le gusta como está la eliminatoria en este momento?
Quisiera estar mejor. La verdad es que en el partido frente a Estados Unidos, lo que menos teníamos planificado era perder, pero así sucedió.
Ahora, nos preparamos para iniciar la segunda vuelta. Espero que se pueda sacar la mayor cantidad de puntos para clasificar a la hexagonal final.
Trinidad y Tobago llegará afectado para el juego del 11 de octubre, ¿qué visualiza del rival?

Independientemente de como lleguen, lo que debemos hacer es ganar el partido para poder sacar esa ventaja de tres puntos y, luego, ratificarla en el juego frente a Cuba. Serán 180 minutos en los que nos jugaremos la clasificación.
Será un partido muy intenso frente a los cubanos, en la Habana.

Ahí definiremos nuestro futuro.
¿Cómo analiza el funcionamiento en el partido del miércoles recién pasado?

Me gusto todo el partido, porque desde los primeros minutos tuvimos para sacar ventaja.
Hubo una buena disposición del grupo. Se cometieron errores cuando se buscó presionar a Cuba, y eso, en alguna medida, no se cumplió en la primera parte.
¿Porqué usó a Fredy Thompson como lateral por la derecha, si no es su posición habitual?

Pensé que tenía la oportunidad de generar fuerza ofensiva por la derecha, pretendía que Mario (Rodríguez) hiciera diagonales y abriera los espacios a Thompson.
Se había trabajado algunas jugadas con esa posición, pero el caso es que aquí no se equivocó el jugador, fui yo, porque tomé la decisión. Es una experiencia que me afectó, y espero en el futuro no volver a cometer ese error.
¿Fue mejor el segundo tiempo?

Si hablamos de efectividad, es indiscutible. Pero, además, hubo mejor aplicación, se hizo la presión que queríamos. No se le dio libertad al rival, a pesar de que aflojamos, cuando ellos se quedaron con 10 jugadores.
¿Tendrá tiempo para corregir errores antes de enfrentar a Trinidad y Tobago?

Los errores se corrigen trabajando, y siempre se pueden dar. Los cometen los grandes equipos del mundo, o sea que nosotros también estamos expuestos.
Hay que trabajar con algunas jugadas a balón parado y confirmar lo que se hace en los entrenamientos, sin caer en la improvisación.
¿Esperaba una goleada?

Lo que busco siempre es ganar. No importa el marcador
